Have I bought an expensive paperweight?

Postby ttmb » Sun Mar 26, 2017 5:02 pm

I've bought this https://imageshack.us/i/pmsVO24nj , I can't tell if it's a genuine puzzle or just a convincing paperweight. Any ideas guys and girls? Cheers, Mark

Just to clarify, I bought it for the puzzle itself not as any attempt to win a prize , it does have a bearing in it and it is really heavy, the blue rings are the moving parts

Looks legit to me. I believe they made a few special ones were commissioned with company logos for corporate gifts. I've never seen this one before though. It's probably quite rare, although probably not any more valuable than a normal one.

Yes I have managed to register this puzzle and as soon as I can track down a booklet for it is will start trying to solve the encryption, Andrew did email me saying that he remembered engraving this and was surprised it had become available, the link for the booklet is broken and I haven't been able to get a working link , also not entirely sure what model this is to ask anyone else (Andrew did however promise to send the decryption files personally if I bought them and there was an issue )

Very cool. I double checked and the Isis booklet seems to be working fine for me. On the site where you register the isis there should be a link that says "Download Booklet (United Kingdom)"

Yes I click on the link there and I get a constant string of opening tabs which download a html file until I can close the browser, no pdf file:-( , supposed it could make it a super extreme puzzle if I have to start without a starting point lol

Thanks, I'm finding deciphering the clues quite straight forward, I'm interested if any of the other puzzles are tougher? (I liked the challenge, it's just going too fast) :-p

I found all of the decryptions fairly similar. Ramisis stumped me the longest though. In terms of the actual puzzles, the Copernisis probably has the most cipher based solution, while the tessarisis and Ramisis both have mostly mechanical puzzling aspects that could be worked out without clues. The Isis is the most random of the three, and it really is challenging until you find the hidden '11th' clue. Loved them all though.
