Well Done BPShirase.

A couple years ago I had combed the whole fig tree area with a metal detector, checked under the name place, the post, and all around that I could do. No luck. I've also conned two more nimble people than myself to climb the tree, and never found it in any higher up nooks and crannies. Don't remember seeing the ribbon though. Maybe I'll head back and see if it's there. If I can't climb that high, I'll pull out my zoom lens and see if I can find any further clues.

I explored Will Rogers Memorial Park for ~2 hours today and came up with nothing. My concern is that the coin was hidden back in 2009, so if it was just a coin wedged into the tree or roots somewhere, the tree has most likely grown around it (this is implying that it is even in the tree)

A couple concerns, there's a sign posted about rules for the park... no climbing trees, no digging, etc. I climbed the tree anyways, but never went higher than the main trunk and branch points that I could reach from there... I'm assuming they would not hide it higher than that because then it just becomes a safety issue. The other concern is that it was buried somewhere but you're not supposed to be digging up the ground anywhere and Ger-Dog also did a sweep with a metal detector.

Looking at some of the other hidden coins, the picture of the sign and the hint for "benjamin", finding a placard with "benjamin fig" on it not even 20 feet away in the open just reeks of being way too easy... especially after seeing some of the other "found coin" threads and their solutions.

What else could Benjamin mean? What other location near the park? Any other ideas?

I was in the area back in June (Jun 18th) and also spent a great deal of time looking around and in this tree.

I even tried checking under the tree's sign post for the coin. The label only had a fraction of the 'Benjamin Fig' text remaining, as was the case with the other posts in the park. The post was somewhat rotten and broke off leaving some remaining in the ground when I tried to free it from it's resting place.
I spent about 45 minutes up and around the tree. Found a few deep V's that were clogged with leaves, dirt, and bugs. I dug as far as my fingers could reach between the V of the branches then had to dig at it with my multi-tool. Still couldn't reach the bottom though. I did not climb any more than the initial trunk either.

I have a few other leads on this but not much.
