Hooray, i was able to unlock it, but while trying 4 chinese chopsticks lost their lifes.
I thought when i send my tess to sonic, i have to pay, if i use all force i can and brake the wheel,
i also have to pay, so why not trying all i can! I'm sure thats not the way you should choose, but i'm happy with it, so back to the start.

My gold Tess is in this position as well. It's the wheel to the left (by the 'T') of the plunger. By pushing it down and rotating it, I would get it to stay down (and reversing would raise it), but I took it further this time, and now it's locked. Can't find a way to unlock it. Tried the other wheels, tried rotating the cube, tried the plunger. Nothing seems to unlock it.

My wheel was the wheel on the right or by the "s". :)

Interesting...I haven't been able to get the other wheels to lock. I did just unlock my left-side wheel. Wasn't stuck, just stubborn. Wooden skewer was strong enough to loosen it counterclockwise like normal. So left plunger wheel can kind of lock. Right plunger wheel apparently can. Can push the plunger but otherwise does nothing for me, and I can twist the top a millimeter or two counterclockwise. That's all I got.
EDIT: Found something new a little while ago - with the plunger down, when I turn the S wheel in any direction, I flip some kind of internal mechanism after a turn. Can't tell what it is (doesn't unlock the lid or lock the wheel), but it's definitely there and predictable to perform.

This is exactly like mine. I can also get the lower wheel nearest to the slice to do the same but that's about it!

I've been playing with the Tess while watching boxing, and I seem to have 3 wheels related to one another (the one furthest from the slice seems to do nothing for me). Turn the plunger T wheel clockwise until it stays down. Tilt the plunger facing to the side, S wheel on the bottom, and turn it until something inside shifts. Then go to the slice wheel, and it locks. I also noticed when the T wheel is locked down, the lid seems to be tighter (usually I can move it a couple of millimeters either way). Turning the S wheel again to get that "clunk" feel will unlock the slice wheel.
Anyone who has solved it able to tell me how close I am/am not? (been at this for weeks now...today's the first time I've really but consistent time into playing with different sequences)

good point pyro.. guys the clues really do lead you to the solution... read them.. learn them use them.. most of the sticking points I see within the posts can be solved with the clues..

I don't see why you have to register the puzzle to get the clues!, they should be in the box. can someone please PM me the clues :-)
The lid on mine has always been loose, I can turn it anti clockwise and it will trap one of the wheels if pushed in the down position. I can also screw down one of the wheels but this appears to do nothing once done.

Have the clues as well, but to be honest, "last of the first" doesn't make much sense to me (unless it's referring to "unlock"). But even then, it seems like I'm missing *something* since the lid won't rotate. But thinking about that some more, since there's a Tarka in there, rotating it about the center axis shouldn't be the way to open the Tess since there wouldn't be an opening large enough to get it out. I'd expect it to be rotating with one of the wheels as an axis, assuming those are where the ***s are.
