Thanks to a mate (Andy) with a camper van, I just spent a very cold ,wet ,windy weekend walking in the glorious lake district.
Does this rock (and paths on the distant hill) look familar?
This can also be found it on google earth
Having driven from Cornwall to Cumbria we arrived at 10:45pm, parked the van in the camp site in Braithwaite, had a few beers, a nights sleep and a bacon roll for breakfast.
We then walked up hill for about and hour and a half (600metre climb ) and found the coin on the very top of Causey Pike exactly where the dismembered hand said it would be. It wasn't totally hidden and easy to see when you got there, although it was off to the side and not directly visible from the path which explains why is was still there after 3 nearly 4 years.
It was a bit grubby as it has been exposed to the weather for many years and were were very pleased to find it.
Back to the pub to celebrate (via May 1 2010 1 of 2 but that's another story
)
