Am I right in thinking that this search is still unfound?
I stumbled upon some information that has pointed out a location that is a possible, it fits most of of the parts of the clue.
It does rely on the picture not relating to specifically the SW though.
If I lived closer I'd be right there searching!

By my reckoning there are two outstanding 'long term' searches in the UK, this one and 'the rock' (Nov 2008 1 of 3). That is on the basis that no one has ever posted a story on them. You can't rely on the search index page as December 2008 doesn't show as found but it definitely has been found. There was never a story posted on the gold coin either so it may be that one of these is gold (or the 'mill race' that again didn't have a story posted, but was hidden shortly after the gold coin announcement). Trouble when they get this old without any fresh info is that its not worth making a long journey for what may no longer be there.

Now that the interest in searches has been rekindled with new people showing some interest it would be good to get some feedback on these outstanding searches.

I also had a theory on this one that didn't directly involve the SW, just the age group of someone named S, an ancient legend, and key words from the riddle and implied by the photo, but a bit too far to go on a hunch. In all the Googling that I've done on this one I've never come across that photo, which tends to imply that the person who set the riddle took it, and therefore more likely to be at the location.

Maybe Sonic Warp will refreshen these as new searches - less costly than rehiding a new coin

Ok we all know that silver coins gets you a free isis, so what does a gold coin get you, and exactly how much harder can it be to find a gold coin you may be asking.

Firstly the gold will be worth 1 x limited edition isis or 2 x std isis or £200.00 cash, and you do get to keep the gold coin.

Secondly, how difficult will it be to find, hmmmm - you will find out very soon.

Well my research is obviously leading in a different direction to yours, I am not linked to anyone's name.
What I found leads directly to a certain hill. I thought.. "I wonder if there is any place on that hill to hide a coin?" Guess what's on top of it?... Yep, a Trig point. So... I'm thinking its something that should probably be checked out.
Only thing is, like you say, its too far to travel for something that you aren't completely sure about.
I am thinking that me and the wife will maybe plan a little caravan excursion that way and check it out while visiting the area.
It'd be great for this one to be found and the clue explained!

I had to drop someone off in Cannock to pick up a car yesterday so I took the opportunity to test out another Cannock Chase theory. I had wondered if the clue was referring to the Analemmatic Sundial on Broc Hill. On the basis that it is near the convergence of the SW and the HofEW, gold might be the sun, palm might mean 'hand' as in the hand of a clock. You actually become the gnomon on this type of sundial by standing on the base plate in a position dictated by the current month. Your shadow then points towards the stones (if the sun is shining that is). This is the 9 o'clock stone:



As I suspected though, it is solid rock (no cracks) and the only place where a coin could be hidden is by pushing it down between the turf and the stone, but there was no sign of anything. There was a piece of stiff wire lying near the back so I suspect that someone else may have had the same idea. As I've said before, those SW markers are present in Cannock Chase but the blue dye has faded and they only appear to be present on the stretch that coincides with the Shropshire Way, and they have been nailed to existing bridle posts:

A long time since any posts on this thread!

Can anybody confirm if this one has been found yet, if anybody is still looking or if anyone has unearthed anything new?

Also a long way from me and I dont want to go gallavanting off to search for something that isn't there anymore!
