Its all about generating money!

Hey all,
My last post was in November 2008 (titled "A Bit Quiet Here...") and I've not visited since, having given up trying to crack Pryamid 18. So I vist today and log in, interested to see whether anyone got the gold for 18, and find that the secure area of the website has changed and that I can no longer see the Pyramid Map unless I sign up for a Monthly or Annual Membership at a cost! What a joke!! Its all in the name of making extra cash. I never got into the whole SonicWarp puzzle adventure thing - the ISIS II was an impulse buy tempted by the advertised £500 prize. So I open the ISIS to find that I'm only a third of the way there - that I next have to a) locate a pyramid location and b) work out the password, and sure enough I can spend more money by buying password credits. There's no such thing as easy money - the marketing material hosted in the shop with the ISIS doesn't give the full picture as to what it takes to get the £500.
So this is a plea - come on people - crack some pyramids open to claim some gold and lets start getting some money back!! I know the location of 18 but the password is very difficult. Team work?

It's not a lot of money really i get a lot of enjoyment out of the pyramids even if i dont solve it

like every product you consume....and your favorite products like tobacco or beer are making a far greater profit off of you.
ill bet alot of the complainers have things like:gym memberships they never use,tobacco habits,or just alternate hobbies that they just dont know what percentage of said products are actually profit.
i dont pay the membership fee because i showed my support by entering the 500 club
if it where not for all the belly aching bleeding heart cry babies in the world i wouldnt have to read this garbage at all.
the forum should be open to paying members only...
but until then continue to tell all of us what a rip off it is....we like it

To start with I thought when these NEW CHARGES came in it was agreed by all, that the forum should remain free access. You seem to have changed your mind and think we should now pay for this
I thought we had paid when we purchased our puzzles or am I wrong in thinking this
As for the 500 club, it was a free choice to purchase and I for one am so glad I didn't, but because I didn't I do not expect to be discriminated against by anyone on this forum.
The forum has always been open for anyone to air their views without it being called "crap" (so long as they don't become abusive to other users) hmmm a few bells ringing here on some past posts.
I think an apology is in order to Kingpin, he has been a member for along time.

I am glad you are happy with the state of play as it stands, I for one am not and I think the amount of posts on the forum bears out the fact that alot of people feel the same. So many names missing now, even you, a 500 club member havn't got much to say anymore about the adventure, like most of us.

Don't forget the apology to Kingpin Steve, he has a right to his opinion without beeing slaged off.

your right i was pissed before...but its been a long time now that the adventure required a membership...and there was a huge problem with making the forum open ,or to make it members only.....i voted for members only to keep this kind of posts off the board,but in doing this ..the opposition believed it would reduce the exposure to new customers....well now we see the cons of the open forum ....sure its open to new customers to read and become interested ...on the other hand tho..this is what they get to read..."oh its a rip off"..."it is extortion"...nobody was ever forced into any of this..not one of you...if you are having "buyers remorse" then its on you...if you feel your not getting what the initial deal was supposed to be...thats because to survive the deal needed to be updated....
i dont come here nearly as much as i used to as the rate of product release is a little slower than expected....but who are we to insist on any kind of expected time frame for puzzle "developement"....."inventing".....heres an idea....ill send you 200 dollars and you invent a flawless enjoyable new puzzle.....and i want it right now too...no research no production tests ...make it perfect and make it fast.......doesn't work like that.
i cant believe we all have been so childish in our impatience of "creation"
i will wait as long as it takes to have all the Isis Puzzles...thats why i have always been here....its like art...and he is a very exclusive artist..i have absolutely no interest in the "adventure"..i am not here to get rich....it is annoying and sometimes holds up puzzle production dealing with all you "get rich quick" people and the "sweepstakes" end of the adventure.
i actually wish there where no cash prizes.then there would be no "ripping off" of anything.

I think "buyers remorse" only comes into it if the "deal" was as it was when the product was purchased... for many that simply isn't the case anymore therefore they probably do feel a little hard done by... some more than others. I don't think anybody was particulary pleased when extra fees for this and that were introduced but with the economy as it is and with TSI going under causeing problems for SW (I believe) then it's something I just accepted had to happen in order to keep things going. Some will leave quietly, others will make a fuss and have a shout about it (and that's their right as long as they stay civil about it) and then leave (and maybe return), and others will just pay up becuase they'd like things to continue.

Yeh, I can't say I'm particularly "WOWed" by the way things have gone lately, but I accept it for the way it is and trust that although it may take a while it'll hopefully all come good in the end.

The other thing is that it shouldn't really affect newcomers because they have all the information available now before they buy, and they will either choose to buy their puzzle knowing IF they want a chance at a prize (not everyone cares about prizes) they'll have to pay membership, or they won't buy the puzzle.

Hopefully when the next bunch of puzzles comes out then the forum and SW will use it as an oppertunity for a new beginning and this place will spring back into life and we'll see some old faces return

Keep up the good work PUZZ, can't wait to see these new puzzles... and don't forget to keep us all updated

Puzzling is one of my hobbies,far less expensive than some other of my interests.
Why allways nag about a couple of pounds,the time is now,we are living in this moment ,not in five years from now,so quit complaining and live a little.
You never know,tomorrow it might be over.
If you decide to take your money into your grave it won't make any difference(just look at the pharaoh's).
So stop the complaints and enjoy the puzzles.
If you do feel like earning 500 £,i'll start up a new competition for everybody out there.
Here it goes: make me a completely working puzzle with no malfuntions wich can be opened and closed allways and i will give you 500£
It has to be a puzzle that not allready exists and has to have a high difficulty level.
The winner will be chosen from all the entries by me after intensive study of the puzzle.

sorry ....i like you ....i have been on both sides that is true...
its like in the UK if you show that your mad its an embarrasment where as here if you dont act pissed no one listens
and i am not the spokesman for the SW company...they actually get pissed at me for running my mouth sometimes(most times)
im am going to shut the eff up ,and go with the gosh darned flow for a while.
i am nobody,everybody.....the average joe....tried to be the "voice of the majority"....it doesnt pay very well
and when people i like start getting mad at a blanket type post not directed "from me personally to you personally"
its time to quit.
my wife firmly believes i shall never see my money's worth from SW,and constantly asks me what is going on with it...when i tell her,even when i try to cover the ugly parts ,she says "your out 740 usd's,thats what you are!"....so alot of my posts are "self pep talks" so i dont freak out.
i know what i have said about the cost,about "if you cant afford it...."....thats the same deal....740 usd was ALOT of money....
so maybe i am the voice of the forum because i actually do feel everything....angry like lodgecrest was....exasperated at the new fees like so many here....hopefull like the majority of the 500 club....annoyed by the failed ramisis puzzles......impatient about the extended release dates.....skeptical about the treasure chest scheme....is this man a con artist with a fancy new way to embezzle our monies?.....or is he a visionary on past time entertainment who threw in a sweepstakes side to gain popularity?....is he a puzzle inventor or a a fabricator of money attracting junk?
only the future will tell...and i am damn sure going to stand right here and see how it ends!
the world is currently dealing pretty harshly with shady money making "scams" if this is what is going on he will burn for it

I guess I am a little disappointed with SW now. I didn't agree with the subscription fee, but paid it because i love the adventure, and then awaited for the promise of lots more pyramids isis and ramisis searchs. Maybe my expectations are too high, but I have not seen a lot of these extras, it still very much looks like business as usual

and please don't every one pelt me with the platinum pyramid, as that is only one (very big) extra and lets face it, no one is going to actually win it....

Last night I replied to your post, it was full of wisdom and reflection on past times
We have all burnt the midnight oil chasing the elusive p.word and spending a fortune on the checker.
It was fun. The Isis was the best thing since sliced bread.
I gave SW advice on their customer relations, this forum could be buzzing again, just needs a little injection every so often from the top, especially to the 500 club members
Any way it was quite along post (to much g & t)
I pressed send the screen went blank and signed me out
I thought ,sod it, can't do all of that again even to cheer Steve up

This is a much abridged post, just want to say you didn't make me mad. Please stay in the "gang"
