hmmm, that's what I thought too! Access to the forum really should be free. But it's still an improvement :)

Forum access now seems to be completely free :D :D I didn't need to log in to the adventure website this morning, and the Bots are back :D :D

Yes I noticed yesterday evening that I could get directly to the forum without having to log in. The icing on the cake now would be a link on the main Isis Adventure website as newbies wont know the URL of the forum unless they follow the big link on the Sonic Warp homepage to the SW forum and pick up the link to this forum from there. Seems a bit long winded though. Still a big improvement.

No, SW haven't stopped the membership fees, they have just moved the forum back into the free "no need to register" zone :D :D This is great news as it means that anyone can read the forum, see all of the things SW have to offer, and then hopefully decide to subscribe and/or buy a puzzle :D

Seems as though we spoke too soon. As of about 17:30 today it was necessary to log in again and the Bots have disappeared.
Thought it was too good to be true.

Argh, I was just beginning to think I must have dreamt about removing the need to login yesterday, as I click on refresh this morning and, bang, login screen again. :(

DOH!!! I was so happy about that too! It's really annoying to have to log in twice again!

It just seems so odd to me to want to hide the forum from non subscribers! In late November 2006 I was browsing a website, I think it was firebox, for possible Christmas presents. That was when I first saw the ISIS. I thought it sounded cool, so I googled it to find the homepage, which then lead me to the forum. On reading parts of the forum it gave me an impression of what it was like to own an ISIS, the excitement of the pyramid hunts and reading about how thrilled people were when they managed to open it :D It all sounded like so much fun, I just had to have one. Unfortunately I then showed Roger, and he said NO!! :( But what I didn't know was that a very good friend of ours had bought one for us for Christmas, I was ecstatic :D :D Our friend gave it to us on Christmas morning, I really wanted to cancel the rest of Christmas so that I could stay at home with the ISIS

But anyway, the point being was that it was the forum that convinced me that I wanted an ISIS, a manufacturers website can tell you that a product is amazing, but in my opinion, you never really know for sure until you read customer reviews, and what's better than a forum!

I'm sure SW must have a good reason for putting the forum behind the subscription, but I hope they reconsider.

I absolutely second that! I had seen the ads on several webpages for months, but did not want to spend that much money without knowing what that adventure really was about. The stories and enthousiasm on this forum convinced me it was worth buying one.
Thanks a million times to all early birds who were here 1,5 years ago already, you helped to make 2008 my most rewarding puzzle year ever!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

i'd seen the puzzles on firebox too but never took any real notice until like Karen, i googled to find out more info and found the main website and forum and then found the free searchs, which i thought were awesome as i couldn't prove a good enough argument to spend £100 on a puzzle without being frowned upon by family, whereas the free searches they weren't too concerned about - until i jumped on a train and cycled from penrith to barton fell by myself

the only thing i could think of though... is if you have to subscribe to see the free searches but the forum is free, that then means, that we cannot post any of the clues from the free searches in the forums.

so either; the forum and free searches are free, or you have to pay a subscription to see them both, or we stop posting the free search clues on the forum and make the forum free.

i hope SW would go for the first option, as it was how i got into the adventure, and if the forum and free searches weren't there, then i'd probably have not bothered and just decided £100 on a puzzle is too much and find something else to occupy my free time. i think the forum is very important way of attracting new customers; for me it was also knowing that there were people to talk to about the adventure, and that it wasn't just faceless company trying to make money, that once you'd spent your £100 on a puzzle, you were then left on your own to solve it. plus at the moment with people holding onto their money, offering something free of charge is more likely to get noticed and get more people going for it, as it's free! then hopefully they'll be "hooked" enough to carry on and pay up for the subscription etc
