I came to realise this - I am not disputing that at all.

I just would have liked to have known properly first. But oh well, I've paid and now I'm tearing my hair out over these riddles!

Hi Kitkit,

To subscribe to the ISIS adventure, login to the main website and on the left hand side menu there is a "your subscription" link, click on this
and you can then choose to pay yearly £20 per year, or monthly (I think it's £2 per month).

well guys and girls, i have been away from the forums for a good while now... i have had plenty of stuff to be getting on with and solving riddles was not top of the list.

so what do i discover on my return to the adventure?

Now I have to pay 20 quid a year, or 2 qud per month to view the clues !!!!

Well, that is not what I agreed to when I entered the adventure. opening the isis was the requirement to be allowed to view the map and see the riddles... not only that, but when my isis was bought for me, there was no mention of riddles,,, it was purely open it, find out the locations and go claim it.

It appears to me sonic warp, like many other businesses in this time of rescission, is on a very unstable fiscal standing. In the last 8 to 10 months all I have seen is more and more ways to put cash into sonicwarp. Paying 20 for a subscription to access what is rightfully mine to access as I opened the isis, is not an option as i doubt sonicwarp and the isis adventure will still be in operation in 12 months time. Particularly the way they are desperate fore cash...Are the Sharks circling?

As of tomorrow, I will be writing to sonicwarp, stating as the terms and conditions have altered substantially since I originally joined the adventure, that i wish to make arrangements for the return of my isis for a refund. I will pursue it in the county courts if necessary.

How does this leave the situation of Mystique and myself as keepers? I am not sure, but probably the days are numbered of it remaining here.

there does exist not one thing that costs only 20 pounds a year....not one thing.....i cant believe you would have to pay membership fees being a gold coin keeper...when you agreed to do this you made a promise to each and every one of us...a big responsability....every one of the people who have done things for puzz have taken on the same responsability as well...your not alone.....all the pyramid does is sit there right?....no labour involved?....
i personally was counting on you as a guardian as was everyone else....
i am suprised PUZZ would let someone so hungry to win the adventure himself be part of the awards department....
is that what it would take to keep you on?....a membership?...20 pounds?.....
this is not to be read in your minds voice in a angry tone but a calm low tone ...you are important to the adventure....
i paid like 65 dollars just to take my wife and son to a movie (we saw valkyre..cool!)....
if puzz got us all together at a party and said "hey listen guys...i need you each to make a 20 pound donation to fund the next leg of the journey...we would all do it no problem.....
i wish you would reconsider or at least try to talk to puzz about it .....

its not the money, its the principle.

The goalposts have been moved time and time again..

you say you went to the movies and paid $65, fair enough, but what if after you paid your $65 for your ticket to see the movie, you then had to spend another $5 to sit in a seat.... after all, you only paid to see the movie... what if half way through the movie, they decided to increase the price and came around asking you for additional money? would you pay? I know I wouldn't.

as far as being a keeper goes and being part of the adventure, this was cleared before i became a pyramid keeper. The only stipulation was that I was not allowed to go for my own pyramid. I have no advantage over anyone else in the adventure.

Saying all that, I have written to sonicwarp today, stating my case regarding the additional costs, and that i feel it is unfair and possibly not legal. I will await the outcome of that before i re-consider my roll as a keeper. Nothing is set in stone.

Hi Smartybones,

If there was any other way to keep the adventure alive, I'm sure SW would be doing it, but unfortunately they had to implement the membership system to secure the adventure for us all.

Hi Folks,

Update December 2008

I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a fabulous new year.

I have just been catching up with the forum, I must apologise to you all but I am finding little available time these days to feedback to you all, and its really important that I do, so Im going to try and allocate a bit more time some how.

Regarding the recent changes, apart from the forum which now requires your isis logon, I have tried everything to keep the status quo on the adventure, but Ive been told by those interferring accountants that I cant. I intend to see my dream of 5 isis puzzles produced but some changes are required to ensure this happens smoothly. Isis III will cost less than the Ramisis, but thats because Ive had to listen to the accountants again and reduce the complexity of the puzzles im making. That said Isis III is awesome and will not have the same teething issues that the Ramisis has had. The membership contributions will help to develop and test Isis III better than before and thus produce a flawless puzzle. Apart from the puzzles the membership will also allow us to introduce new better awards, many more pyramids and more free searches and much more... in affect for a small contribution the whole adventure will be enhanced tenfold for everyone's enjoyment.

There will be further announcements regarding the membership and how it will work over the next few weeks. In the meantime enjoy the festive season and dont drink too much coffee.

Best Wishes

Andrew Reeves (Puzz)
MD Sonicwarp Ltd and
Inventor of the Isis Adventure.

The thing is, if sonic warp needs to start charging an extra 20 quid a year (or 24 quid if paid monthly) to top up the pennies jar to keep the adventure going, then it is very doubtful that the adventure will continue to the end.

The business plan is fundamentally flawed. It will have taken a massive initial sale of the Isis 1 to prop up the adventure to see it through all five puzzles. It appears those sales targets were not met. Sonicwarp since have made a lot of effort to top up the bank balance. The treasure chest where the customers essentially 'lend' sonicwarp 100 quid each, The 500 club, where you pay for all the puzzles in advance. Its all in a effort to prop the company up a little longer.

The way i see it, the isis I have, was bought and paid for in good faith, on the understanding that If I solved the puzzle, that I would be presented with the locations of the pyramids, and go and claim my prize. By the time my isis was open, the goalposts had been moved. You now had to solve a riddle to find the exact location, and a password to claim gold. Now the posts have been moved again, I now have to pay money to read the clues and therefore to claim a prize. There was nothing in the terms and conditions that I would have to pay additional money to stay in the adventure or to claim a prize. I dont even think that is legal.

Again its not the 20 quid, its the principle.

As with most if now all companies, SW reserve the right to change the T&C whenever necessary, please see below.

I know what you mean when you say it's not the money, it's the principle. I've been a member of the adventure for over 2 years now and although the additional charge was a shock to us all, I understand why SW have had to do this, and I'm all for supporting SW during this finantially difficult time.

In that case, i will no longer be making any more posts on this forum, as i do not agree to the change in terms and conditions.

It should also be pointed out to the sonic warp legal department that those terms and conditions are biased and put the consumer at a disadvantage, there are laws to protect the consumer in these cases, it is called the unfair contracts act. Also, as the adventure is ultimately a competition, the UK competition rules state that no purchase will be necessary to claim a prize, to have to pay an annual subscription to be in a position to claim a prize is in breech of these rules. That is why originally the free search would have been put in place, but now, that appears to no longer be available unless you pay the subscription.

it is east to blame the credit crunch, but ultimately it is a flawed business plan that has put the adventure in difficulty.

In any case, i will no longer be taking part in any aspect of the adventure,

just to add, those terms and conditions relate to the use of the website. not to the adventure itself. by making part of the website a subscription only area may indeed come under the agreed terms and conditions, but to make an essential part of the adventure part of that subscription does not. Along with the fact that When my isis was purchased there was no instructions enclosed which stated that access to the Internet was required to complete the adventure where additional fees may be required other than that of the ISP puts the whole thing on very shaky ground...

I look forward to hearing an official response from sonicwarp. they have my contact details....

on a personal matter,,,, congrats on the baby and the wedding.... A little late i know, but had other things to do other than troll forums lol

Sorry to read that you will not be contributing to the forum. I agree with your comments about a flawed business plan and the unfair contracts act. For a long time I only used the forum to try and get a free Isis and was enjoying the hunt for these.

Just before xmas I was lockout from the Isis adventure, so I had to decide to be in the adventure or not! I did contact SW to see if I could just register and offered to pay a fee, but got no reply.

The reason I joined was that I was missing the forum chat and communicating with others that I had become friends with :D if you leave this forum Smartybones you will not be hurting SW, but a lot of us will be missing your valuable input.
I am also glad to see that you have not broke your contact and given a clues to the NWP gold coin.

Hope this can change your mind :D :D :D :D

£20???

Postby kyrirhcp » Thu Jan 22, 2009 11:04 pm

Right,
I have come to the realisation that all companies in the UK believe that once you have paid for their product or service, they have you by the cubes.

Dear Mr SW,
you are so wrong to believe that a group of people like ourselves will fail to see that you are just a money hungry corporation out to squeeze us for our every penny. Don't forget, we're the ones smart enough to have cracked your puzzle. Instead of rewards for our achievements or even intelectual borders being placed, you chose to give liberties to the people that would pay their way to success. I have the cash to pay, I could literally urinate £20. But you know what? Had you been fair maybe you would have received your money. I was going to buy the full set of puzzles and keep them as a collection, making you just a bit more than the £20 subscription, but of course, now, after the way you have been treating us, I won't bother dealing with your company again. Except of course when I finally solve this riddle, out of spite.
By the way, I'm still waiting for my key to arrive, 2 months and a couple of e-mails down the line.
we're a-going a-huntin....

Wow, this is crazy. My personal experience with SW has been nothing but fantastic! Their staff, albeit limited in number, has always been extremely helpful to me with all of my questions. I also understand that they are a business and they SHOULD be striving for some profit. After all, without some profit, how will they produce the great puzzles?? That being said, the puzzles they have produced are of top-of-the-line supreme quality and design, and I've thoroughly enjoyed them! As for changes in the terms and agreements, it's their prerogative as a business; surely we all knew that from the beginning! I'm happy to remain a happy customer and hopefully contributer to this adventure. So SW, don't get discouraged; I'd imagine there are plenty more positive stories out there than negative ones.

Amen brother!.....
negative energy generators will not be missed...i do believe they represent a small percentage of the whole....
they would probably easily drop 100 times more at a filthy establishment like a casino or a strip club without blinking an eye
The Adventure is like taking a course in random subjects at a college level...i am more than satisfied with my investment as well.
there has been snipers in the bush since the Adventure began,i dont expect this to change...some people just hate success
