Broken Ramisis

Postby Huszar » Sat Jan 17, 2009 6:53 am

We hear that Ramisis' has all kinds of broken electronics, but i'm wondering about physical breakdowns. If any Ramisis was improperly manufactured or assembled, how would we know? What can any of us do about it?

i have heard that some of you have told Puzz that your Ramisis is broken and he has convinced you otherwise. i'd like to hear your story.

I've compaired my Ramisis and Ramisi5, and I have noticed a few differences, one being the key chamber. The key chamber can be depressed in my Ramisi5, but it's stuck solid in my Ramisis. I PM'd Puzz about this last night and he wrote to me this morning ...

PUZZ wrote:..Nope it doesnt matter if some move a bit and others dont, the locking plate that goes across the key chamber will have a slightly better fit with those that dont move 2mm.

He also said ..

PUZZ wrote:..knowing the mechanics as I do, its very unlikely to have a mechanical fault.

It was a similar situation when the ISIS was released, many people believed that there was something wrong with theirs when it wouldn't open, but out of the 1000's of SIS that have been sold, I only know of a couple that have been unopenable. SW products are very well built mechanically (unfortunately the Ramisis has electronic issues, but this does not effect the opening of the puzzle) so if there are any broken Ramisis out there I'm betting it's a very very small number indeed :D

how do i know i didnt do something by overtorquing or whatnot that caused it to stop working properly? how ould one know if they have that .1% puzzle that doesnt open?

BTW. how do you get anyone from SW to talk to you? Andrew was talking to me about some projects before thanksgiving and now i cant even get SW to address the fact that i've paid them money twice to access additional information on the website and gotten robbed.

I think that I am right in saying "If SW can close them, then the puzzles will open"
The Ramisis is robustly built enough, that even if you do use a little too much force, it will still open, it just may take a little longer.
SW products opened: Isis 1,1A,1B,1C,Tut & Eagle Isis, Isis Umbrella, NKryptor, Ramisis, Kuku Hard & Copernisis
SW club memberships: Isis 5%, NKryptor 5%, Ramisis 5%, Kuku 5%,Copernisis 5% and the 500 club.

i just wish i could figure out what my ramisis needs. the thing got stuck with the placenta to the right, but still no luck in getting it open. tapping it and banging it on all sideds and directions to no avail. the one thing i feel sorry for SW and Andrew is that if someone like me never opens their puzzle, thats the end of the adventure. Isis III, IV, and V never get sold.

i dont see how the Isis I could not work unless glue oozed onto an otherwise moveable object. this puzzle is far more complex and even now my BROH is very difficult to move seperate from its associated layer. i have tons of metal shavings pouring out from between the layers.

i was wondering about that myself. i opened my key chamber in very little time. since then ive been stuck on step 9 for two weeks (about 10x the hours). ive had it multiple times where it locks at 180 and also catches the bearing between layers, i may have exerted too much force on a couple of occassions. not sure if that would cause damage to the point where it wont open again. i do know that ive been everywhere in this puzzle and can navigate to any stage, but the chamber wont pop. the "resistance" isnt as great as it was the first time. *please edit if too much info

hopefully my puzzle isnt damaged, theres really no way to know, except sending it back, but thats not an option, i waited for this for over a year and shipping overseas totally blows.

if anyone has any suggestions, please pm me.

none at all, it popped open with little effort. it seems after the halfway point over-torquing has caused some binding though.

Just keep faith it is after all an expensive, well made puzzle. You have payed for the privalge of trying to open it and not many have only 23 so far, and everyone of them went through what you are going through right now. There are people out there who still can not open Isis 1 :D

there are people out there who opened their puzzle less than a day after opening the key chamber. i think this is the last purchase of the series for me. :)

i am wondering if the latch could bind inside and that might cause some of us to not be able to get the thing to open right. i say this because i am currently having metal shavings pour out of my puzzle. the lower ROH and its associated layer require more force to turn than anyone says it should. and it doesnt matter where the BB is. i had it in the UROH (verified by magnet) and the two layers stuck together for quite sometime. i am just wondering, with all the binding i am experienceing, is it really unreasonable to think that some of that aluminum dust is binding my latch?

no to the dust..not possible......listen Huszar....i thought you where here to give me grief from what i said "over there"..and you have been...but listen man....if we can forget past little arguments..i want to help you......is that cool?
if you will agree to stop posting negative things about the adventure and/or Sonic Warp i will help you figure out whats wrong with your puzzle...
is there anyway you can take a picture of the shavings?....i have seen this before and know what is going on.....the "movable object" is really small...if your puzzle has "play" in it ,it is possible to get this jammed between layers...that is very bad and will render your puzzle unopenable until the "movable object" finds its way back "inside".....pm me and i will begin to walk you through solving your problem....that is if you can stand me enough to get through it :?
i really didnt know you where having this kind of problem..you should have told me sooner....eagerly awaiting your reply so we can begin!!! :D :D
