I love Egypt and have been 8 times it just gets better and better. Any way we went to Cairo to see the Pyramids and Sphinxs. Next to the Great Pyramid is a museum that houses the Solar Boat. As we where walking a long it I said to my wife I will go back to the begining and video it as it is massive it took some poor chap 25yrs to rebuild it. Anyway as I turned around who should be stood there but Mr Egypt himself, Dr Zahi Hawass, my jaw hit the floor and I could not speak "Hello" he says to me, all i could do was get his name wrong Dr Hawass Zahi I shouted "your english is terrible he says" so whilste I'm all a wreck the wife says get a picture, some nice chap came over and calmly took a photo for us(my knees where shaking)
What a lovely man his passion is unbalievable, anyway he asked what we where doing and we chatted then he said to us "If you meet me at the Sphinx I will give you a treat" We said our goodbyes and shoot off to tell our guide what had just happened. He would not believe us until we showed him the photo next thing were in the van going to the Sphinx. On arrival Dr Hawass was waiting he shouted at the guards to come over I thought oh no I'm off to prison. Now anybody who has been will know the Sphinx actually sits in a pit and tourist are no longer allowed down to it. He says a few words to the guards and with a click of a key the gates are opened "go enjoy he says"
So here I am walking down to the Sphinx
and heres Belinda and me stood between its legs.
What a great holiday I have stood where only Kings and Queens and Presidents can stand now.
and Egypt too i'm jealous
