I also noticed that there are 8 lines in the original code and 8 number references.
Numbers 7 and 8 are missing when you consider numbers 0-9.
So we have running numbers 1-6 and then 9 and 0.
Is it to reorder the lines? Then why not numbers 1-8?

"The Gronsfeld cipher is a variant created by Count Gronsfeld which is identical to the Vigenère cipher, except that it uses just 10 different cipher alphabets (corresponding to the digits 0 to 9)." (Wikipedia)
...this corresponds and matches with what we think is our Cipher (2,1,6,3,4,5,9,0) - digits 0 - 9.
(don't know why 7 and 8 aren't used though? - *scratching head*)

So with that said, the NYC coin could still be there... what other US searches haven't been solved yet. I saw that the Lakota tribe coin was missing or has been found already. What about the big red, big red? (sorry - getting off topic I guess from Nov '08 puzzle)

they have been both solved by myself, though big red has been confirmed and taken by me, but the lakota tribe coin is missing.

Why hasn't the big red one been marked FOUND?
