down & up

Postby LouIsis » Sat Aug 09, 2008 10:17 pm

It looks like the forum was down for about 20 hours.
Did anyone use it succesfully last 20 hours?
Or is there an explanation from SW (for a change...)?
I hope this is not a feature of the 'new style' forum

I would imagine it was their server, as the sonicwarp.com site has been down as well all day.

Have not had that problem here, but have on the european forum, so I think it may be a glitch on phpBB3.

Karen,

that is exactly what is happening to me. In fact the only way I seem able to get in, is by following an old email topic reply alert!!

I sent a PM to Puzz on Friday about it.

I've just received an email from Ade about the login problem...He said to click on the “Delete all board cookies” at the bottom of any page then delete the cookies in Internet explorer. I haven't had a problem since (touch wood! :))

I hope that works for you too Dooners, but if you or anyone else are still having problems, please let us know and Ade will contact Martin at SW to try and resolve the problem :)

Thank you :)

At last, I have been trying to login all day but had the same trouble as Karen and Dooners. I have tried deleting cookies on forum pages but it does not work. Only way I have logged on this time is by doing the same as Dooners, following a link from an old email alert. How on earth did you work that out Dooners?
I have sent an email, so hope it will be sorted soon.

On the Runes forum (another mention, go there!) the domain name in the URL made a difference.
And a simple test confirmed (at least in my case):
http://www.isisadventure.com/forum/blabla does NOT remember the login, while
http://www.isisadventure.co.uk/forum/blabla DOES remember the login.

Funny note: wihout using "URL" tags, the latter is abbreviated by this forum autoatically, the former is not:
(looks like the forum is recognising its own URL when ".co.uk" is used, and does not identify itself with ".com")
http://www.isisadventure.com/forum/blabla does NOT remember the login, while
blabla DOES remember the login.

Cheers Louisis, I will try that. I saved forum site when I logged on through old email topic advise so I can get on that way to the forum page, but I can't do it from the home page link. I have tried clearing cookies but it does not work for me.
I haven't had a reply to my email to SW either

I have connection straight through to forum page
I always went to forum from extra on home page but if I do that I can't log on
So now if I want to log on for pyramid clues I can go to home page that's fine, but then have to go to straight connection to forum.
This is such a bl.... pain.
What can I do, I'm not the brightest spark around a computer but this seems crazy to me.

Hi Gary's Mum,

I'm emailing Ade at the mo, so I'll mention it to him, hopefully he and or Martin will be able to sort it for you :)

One small thing that does bug me about the new forum is the fact that when you follow an emailed link, it now asks you to login rather than just showing you the new posts for that topic :? It does this no matter where the new post is, whereas the old forum only forced you to login if the post was within the 5% club. I don't like logging in to quickly check a single post because you lose all of the highlighted "unread posts" that you don't have time to read that visit :?

Karen

EDIT:.. oooh this forum is quite clever! lol It doesn't lose a highlighted "unread" post if you don't read it on your first visit :D ... still a pain to login though
