48 hours

Postby Gary's Mum » Sun Jul 20, 2008 7:55 am

It has now been almost 48 hours since my useless trip to Birmingham and still no comment from SW.
There are 2 things I think I (we) have a right to know about

1. Why we were not informed of the change and told not to travel until it was sorted.
2. We should be told if the password has changed. I know the rest of the riddle has stayed the same, but after hours, days, months of working on this one there are several words that tick all the boxes and fit completely, but at that point were not the chosen one. The clues could remain the same but the word changed.

I think SW owe us an answer to this. I would email but I think we should all be informed on the forum if they consider this was good practice to it's paying customers.

I am tired of hearing the word "adventure" used to cover everthing that goes wrong.

I don't mind being the black sheep

Sonicwarp, I seriously suggest that you make a swift and positive response on this matter.

yeah, you wouldn't mind so much if they came and said a positive response, but they must be too busy counting all their money i guess...?

I understand your frustration but since neither Ade or Karen work for SW I wouldn't expect either of them to be able to give the type of reply I think your looking for :?
I think the response your looking for should be from PUZZ not Ade or Karen tbh.
I might be wrong but I suspect neither of them will know much (if anything) more that the rest of us on the matter :?

At risk of being shot down ...

If you look at the terms and conditions as stated on the website:

4 OUR RIGHTS
4.1 We reserve the right to:
4.1.1 Modify or withdraw, temporarily or permanently, the Website (or any part of) with or without notice to you and you confirm that we shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification to or withdrawal of the Website

I agree that in the interests of customer satisfaction some comment would be worth more than its weight in gold, but at the end of the day SW have no obligation to say anything. I'm not saying I agree with their methods of customer management, just that technically they are within their rights. :(

Must admit this one does have an odour about it, but Evilkeen is right, SW do not have any obligation to inform us of any change to the web site, which when you think about it is right. If they had to tell everybody about every little change they made to anything to do with the web site there would be a list as long as your arm in no time. This, of course doesn’t make Avril feel any less miffed and hard done to.

I’m quite sure that Puzz will be aware of what’s happened and will try to reconcile the matter to the best of his ability, even if its only blowing a big sloppy kiss in Avril’s direction..

I wondered when terms and conditions would be quoted but you missed this one

7.5.13 Sonicwarp Ltd. reserves the right without notice to you, to remove any Competitions from the Website or to suspend or alter any Competitions on the Website, at its sole discretion for legal or technical reasons. Sonicwarp Ltd. will give Entrants as much notice as possible prior to taking any of the actions described in this clause by posting such notice to the Website, but prior notice may not always be feasible

Irealise it still states notice may not be feasible but I can't see why feasible comes into this.
It had beeen removed over a week before I went on Friday morning

This is run as a competition
I am trying hard to be reasonable but with a lack of some sort of communication it might be worth looking at
misrepresentation
misdirect
mishandle
misinform
mislead
misadventure

or better still mismanage

Sorry guys but this still needs answering in someway, I don't think that is unreasonable, this is a competition so we must have some rights having spent quite alot of money

Im guessing the bit your looking at in particular here is :

SW did give notice on the website in a way since the riddle was changed... not that that would be what I'd have thought "notice" meant before all this.

But yeh, some sort of response would be nice either way

Birmingham pyramid

Postby PUZZ » Mon Jul 21, 2008 9:45 am

Folks,

the Birmingham pyramid is actually still there, but we were asked at very late notice to remove it from the Entertainer store to another close by, this was due to the fact that they didnt have time to administer the password guesses from adventurere's coming into the store. There was a small delay on updating the location part of the clue, but this has been rectified now. Apologies for any inconvienience caused.

I am aware of one person that was caused inconvienience, If they contact us at HO we will send them a free "WOW" mug or an NK as an apology.

best regards Puzz

Fair enough I did miss that one.

It seems to me that communication, and most importantly timely communication is the crucial thing here. I am pleased to see that Puzz has responded positively, but alas not until the agro had escalated unnecessarily perhaps.

I am also reminded though of the 'latest news' banner on the log in page of the adventure site, which would be an ideal place to give notice of things like this. In fact it was used for exactly that purpose on 13 March when the O2 pyramid was temporarily suspended. Unfortunately though it still carries that as the 'latest news' even though that situation has changed since. :(

Not sure what to say to this offer.
I have always accepted an apology in the past with good grace, but a lesson in customer relations I think is needed.

A better reply would have been

We are so sorry for this oversight and the inconvenience it has caused. We will do better if something like this happens again. Please accept our apologies.

I would have been putty in their hands, no more needed.....instead I do not know if I should carry on playing or not.
I now have my very own riddle to solve. Do I travel to Brum again to find new location and trust the password has stayed the same. Or just go away, save my money and forget all about SW's adventure.

ummmmmm need to sleep on it I think

I do understand why you are upset, but posting on the forum is not the best way to get a responce from SW. Just because Puzz logs into the forum, it doesn't mean that he has time to read every post. Puzz probably spends most of his time on the forum answering his PM's. So there is no guarentee Puzz will actually see the post. The best way to contact SW is via email/phone. You are welcome to post here as well, but please don't get annoyed with SW for not responding immediately as I bet Puzz just didn't read your post until today.

As for Ade and myself, we do not work for SW and as Bluesign2k mentioned, I didn't know anything about this, and I bet Ade didn't either. So we were not ignoring you, we just didn't know anything about it.

Anyway, I hope you don't leave the adventure and we don't want to lose you on the forum.

Best wishes,

Karen :)

Sorry Karen I did not wish to offend either you or Ade. You have each worked very hard on this forum.
I just assumed that when you came onto the forum that you reported any problems back to SW to deal with, my apologies

As for Puzz being on the forum, I thought that is what had happened. I have never seen him on here 4 times in a day and again twice on monday when I received a reply.

However a reply has been made now. I would just add, the reason I made this a public complaint was it potentially affected all those who had worked on and made trips to Birmingham.

Thanks Karen
