ISIS II

The area for discussion about the Ramisis, the 2nd puzzle in the Isis series.

Personally I've had nothing but good experiences with SonicWarp so far, so I don't mind jumping into this one... it's all an adventure, after all :) The only minor problems I've had (with installing the NK game and buying a token for the Treasure Chest) were sorted out quickly and efficiently... and by PUZZ himself, which shows a certain dedication to customer service! Time-wise, I don't really care if it doesn't come out for another few months, as long as it works when we do get it.

Hehehe, you just wait 'til I put the 1C back together and give you that to try :P  and by the way, have you done level 70 yet? :P

Wow, there have been some really good points for both opinions! I also think that over $300 is an extremely high price for one puzzle. I wouldn't pay that much for a puzzle by just walking into a shop as seeing it there but I really like the Isis I engineering and look forward to seeing how the Isis II is engineered. Also, along with the challenge of opening it, the Isis II will be a great decoration and conversation piece to display.

Hahahaha, that made me laugh!

I hope so Happyhannah since you have a gold coin AND you won the first treasure chest game. I also wouldn't think twice about jumping in on Isis II if I had already won several hundred dollars from sonicwarp. (I know you worked extremely hard to earn that money)

Here in the U.S. the 'adventure' part is not much of an adventure depeding on where you live. For example, I live in Florida. The closest pyramid or free Isis search is thousands of miles away from me. So that means I only can solve the virtual pyramids. So my adventure is sitting in front of a computer trying to figure out these riddles with resources online......
I would really like the adventure of finding a real pyramid location and try out passwords there.

I can't wait! :D

Actually, since I had to power down the computer at the end of term, I've been putting off going all the way from 66 to 69 again. You've just spurred me on, so back to 69 now. How about you?

I have a very hard time justifying buying a puzzle that will cost me over three hundred dollars, when i cant get too much in return, sure i can buy Isis II and open it and solve a pyramid gaining me a gold coin and 2000 dollars but those are all ifs and not guarantees, what happens if I cant open it? I mean I havent even solved the location for a pyramid yet whats the point in buying Isis II if im just gonna spend more time mulling over impossible clues only to be frustrated and have to spend more on Isis III, I think I will wait until Isis III is about to come out before i buy Isis II, its just too much of a financial risk, I wonder how much these puzzle actually cost to create? Could Puzz be making over a 300% profit from these, very possible.

Hmmm :? That's not really what I meant...

By good experiences I meant their customer service and the quality of the puzzles, which is really what will matter when buying a new (as yet unseen) puzzle from a company.

I would have said the exact same thing if you had asked me 6 months ago, at which point I had only just opened my Isis and had received no prizes from Sonicwarp and honestly didn't expect to. Winning a prize from them really has very little bearing on whether or not I would jump in to buy the Isis II. I have enjoyed these puzzles so much so far that I would save up to buy the next one regardless. I think I probably would even if I hadn't managed to open the first one!

Unlikely - Six months ago the wholesale price for bulk purchase of Isis I was visible to the avid interweb hunter. Mark up for retail price was only about 30% (that includes the 17.5% UK Sales Tax [VAT])

No Isis II purchase for me at the moment... wife's spent the bonus already and then it's the holiday money to save. Maybe Christmas time.

Thanx for clarifying. I was kinda expecting you to respond with such a comment. I agree with you and that is why I have bought the ISIS II without seeing it and without winning anything from SW. I just wanted to point out that it would have been very odd if you had said you were dissatisfied with SW when you have been so involved in these adventures.

Well until four years ago I was seriously involved in product management and I have to say that I am astonished at the pre-order price.

Firstly, there has been very little consideration to the current isisI customer base contrary to promises in the past. One of the unwritten rules in getting your product to market is to let your tried and tested customer base have access to first issues or early versions of your product. That way you will get feedback from those that generally favour your organisation and who will probably provide positive "word of mouth" marketing.

Secondly, as somebody has already mentioned, charging £150 for a product that has no product literature, marketing literature or even a simple photograph is a little arrogant if you ask me. SW must be very confident about its likely market place position to do this. Don’t get me wrong, isisI is extremely well made and I loved it when I bought it, but since then we have has NKryptor which, personally, I felt wasn’t much of a puzzle and the recent 'cheesy' merchandise made me feel SW were moving in the wrong direction.

And finally, (and I may have misunderstood) by opening "isisII you will get access to the isisI pyramids" - If this is indeed the case why would I pay £150 for a puzzle which is simply a puzzle? If I cant solve a pyramid clue with my current isisI what’s the incentive to invest in an isisII other than the challenge of opening it?

I feel a bit guilty writing all this and have loved the adventure up untill a few moths ago when I felt it was all going a bit pear shaped at SW. I hoped I’m proved wrong and that isisII is a hit and re-kindles the excitement that I feel a few of us have lost recently.

Cheers
Haggis

Though I agree with just about everything you said, I'd like to point out that (i think) Isis II gives you acces to Isis I pyramids, but it also has it's own. (non-access Isis I-only owners) Can anyone confirm or disprove that, please?

After trying to interpret everything Puzz has said (and that's not always easy, I may have misinterpreted a riddle or two :) ), I suppose there aare no Isis II only pyramids ... but I may be wrong.

(It shouldn't be pyramids, though - it should be balls 8) )

That seems silly, but if i was in this game just for the prizes, I would be very unsatisfied. :-)

Isis II update

Postby PUZZ » Thu Jul 17, 2008 4:12 pm

Folks,

isis II or Ramesis - has been in development for quite a while now, as im sure many of you know, and it was never going to be easy creating a new puzzle that could follow isis I, but I think we have done just that.

Its still a very high quality puzzle, its still a fantastic thing to behold, and there are some very interesting twists and turns to go through to solve it.

I appreciate £150 is alot to spend on a puzzle, but this is not just any old puzzle - apart from having to live upto isis I expectations, its also the 2nd key towards the final Isis V that will provide someone with an amazing reward.

Pictures and more details will follow throughout the following weeks, so stay tuned... Puzz

So if it took as long to develop the isis II and start making it i think that the next three we are going to have to weight some time for and we could think of a long term adventure not 2012, which is good in a way we can save money for them. But if it wasn't easy for isis II what about isis III :?:
