Virtual Pyramids

Postby adamwest » Sat Mar 29, 2008 3:45 pm

Not much talk about VP here so I thought I would start one up. By the way great idea for pleasing the masses. I have been looking over the riddles and can't help wonder if the cultural and language barrier come in to play with international pyramids? I know that if I had to write a riddle for GB it would either involve a lot of research our be limited to pop culture or miss guided American perceptions. However I believe that the SW team makes the effort to make it equal relevant or perhaps equal irrelevant to everyone. The scary part it that if a "foreigner" starts doing research he/she often discovers facts that are not in the "locals" realm of knowledge or thought proceses. But, the success of other adventures gives me hope.

PUZZ tries i think

Postby adamwest » Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:26 pm

looking back on it i think he did, i remember one about the origin of the marines but i might be wrong. My other fear would be that it would be like the citizenship test for becoming a nationalized citizen that no american could pass but all nationalized citizens have to know...... any way has any one made any progress on the VPs i believe i have made a little but now have to find the specific answer, we will see though. as of yet it is still the circular google search and paper cuts for me.

After being sooooooooooo freakin wrong on VP 27 and having about 50 wrong guesses on my SI riddle I cant even wrap my brain around a basic direction to go on the other 3 VPs. I do think I know where the "NY" pyramid is and its close to my home but I cant even get a possibility of the password that makes any sense at all

i am no where near a real pyramid, you are so lucky!!!! but then again Kansas is no where near anything  if i solve one i will tell you my technique  but honestly i think that i broke the code on one but i just have to figure out the password logic it's hard because my wife doesn't like me spending all "our" money on password checks so i am limited to once a month and may be my birthday!! actually that is not a bad idea for SW one free birthday password check credit, and maybe even one for SW's "anniversary" too bad it was last month  did anyone congratulate PUZZ and the team for 7 years of success? Well i guess i just did if they read this  . About the NY pyramid from what i can tell if you find its location then it might give you a clue about the password.

UNFAIR

Postby adamwest » Sun Apr 06, 2008 9:20 pm

I have been thinking about this for awhile and i have to get it off my chest. I think it's unfair that VPs guesses are once a month and you can try a real pyramid twice a week. I think that that needs to be looked at i know that SW has a reason for it but i can't think of it..... I think it's a HUGE deterrent that make most people give up after one guess. make it two weeks at least i can't imagine that alot of people feel that the password check is worth it. i understand the added cost to the people traveling to real pyramids but that doesn't mean that we should pay SW the offset cost and honestly i think that a nice drive to see the wonders of a real pyramid is a nice escape. what does anyone else think? i know you UKers have an opinion on this.

It's a tricky one.
For somebody who lives far away from a pyramid, they may only be able to feasibly get there once a month to try a password guess, which would make it unfair on them if you could try a virtual pyramid every week.

However, for the London one, I could visit it at least 2 or 3 times a week as it was only a short tube journey from where I worked - which in comparison is unfair on people trying the virtual pyramids.

Personally, it doesn't bother me too much about the time between guesses as I haven't got a clue anyway

Personally, I think the VP riddles should also include a location of a well known landmark, and you need to provide photographic proof that you've been there. It's unfair on the US that they have VPs that anybody in the world can access.

good points

Postby adamwest » Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:08 pm

not a bad i deal about a VP being geo-referenced. I actually thought that the location of the VP had something to do with the riddle but i have seen that theory get blown out of the water twice so far. i think that 2 weeks isn't unreasonable. but i guess that is up to SW to decide. i hope that they at least consider it and respond. i can imagine that with the new month of free isis II and pyramid to stash they are fairly busy.

Do we get one free guess on VP per month? because I just tried one and it said "Sorry! You do not have any password credits."

So do we not get any free guesses on the VP?

adamwest said we get one guess a month on a VP but the website says one every 3.5 days...... which is it?

you have one free guess but you have to go to collect your reward... and then you can type in you guess WARNING THOUGH if you do this you can't guess for 30 DAYS

So even if after using the free guess I decide to buy some credits I can't guess?

Also, do I get one free guess per pyramide per month or do I only get one free guess per month for only one that I pick?
