Pyramids and passwords

News about forthcoming pyramids and coins

Postby haggis » Sun Mar 16, 2008 11:24 pm

It would be interesting to have some statistics on Gold coin winners and pyramids to date.

How many Gold coin winners are there in total?
How many current Gold coin holders aquired them before passwords were introduced?
What was the average time that a pyramid (without password) was in place before it was opened?
What was the average time that a pyramid (with password) was in place before it was opened?
What is the average lenght of time that pyramids remain unopened?

I dont think any of these will be answered because it woud take a fair amount of info collation by SW, but it would be nice to know.

The passwords were supposedly added in an attempt to stop people phoning all the shops in the general area of the pyramid to find out if they had a pyramid (I'm not even sure how SW would know that was happening). The idea was that if the caller didn't have the correct password, then the pyramid holder would deny knowledge of the pyramid.

It seems to me though, that the reason for the password is to save SW having to splash out

It appears a lot being said regarding passwords and clues, so I thought I would ad my 2p worth.

When I got my Isis, I had no idea the original rules regarding the claiming of prizes had changed. I was under the impression it was open it, find and go to a pyramid, get your gold. I was a little on the annoyed side to then find I had to wait for a key, and solve a riddle to the location and password... I solved a riddle, quite quickly, and had a password, spent 5 quid on checking it, and happy days, it was correct.... pretty soon after, I found it had already been solved and gold had gone... not so happy days....

The riddles are hard, and yes, a lot of people probably do not stand much of a chance of solving them. First on the list of people who probably will not solve a riddle are the ones who opened the Isis by the instructions found on other websites.

After I had solved the pyramid that was already solved, I started reading through the forums, going back about a year. I wanted to know which pyramids had gold and which ones had silver. One of the things I noticed was a lot of complaining there was not enough gold and only silver. Adventurers not wanting silver, only gold... now the boot is on the other foot... you can’t make everyone happy....

As far as the password checker goes, I think it is overpriced. I have twice now thought I have had the correct password for the Yorkshire pyramid and spent money on it, only to find it wrong. I don’t think I will be spending any more on it. Not unless it is re-worked in some way. I now have a third password, and I am more convinced than ever I have it right, so much so, my next attempt is going to be in person at the pyramid location... (Will I really be in the local rag Doc?). If the password is wrong I am hoping the location will put me in the right direction. A new pyramid has appeared in the last week much closer to me than the Yorkshire pyramid, but I have put three months work into Yorkshire gold so there is no way I am going to switch now.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the adventure for me is how much I have learned since embarking on my adventure. I have researched so many things and discovered lots of historical facts that I probably would never have known about such as disasters, war atrocities, buildings, mythology monuments etc...

When I do finally get my gold, I will be a bit of an anti-climax as I will no longer have a riddle to solve. I’ll have to get my hands on one of the free ones.... although I am not as fit as I once was and poor health will prevent me from getting the “heavy Simpsons trip” free isis

Well! we've really got a hornet's nest going now; about time.

For my part I think it would be easy to put a few clues out on the forum to guide people in, but I do have an agreement with SW and I will not knowingly break it. I say "knowingly" because I did put up an unintentional clue out some weeks ago but only two people homed in on it.

Yes Smartybones, if you get here with the correct password and the pyramid is opened I will promise you at least a quarter-page (broadsheet) in several local papers. I won't tell you which papers they are.

But to show good faith here is another genuine clue. My Yorkshire Pyramid now seems to be competing for attention with a new one in Preston. When you find our North Riding location you will realise that we have more in common with Preston than might have thought.

Anyway Smartybones, where were you yesterday? When you said you were coming over on Sunday I thought this would be the real thing, a public opening of the pyramid. I sent for the local press and the Sun, we put out the awning and the red carpet, we put a couple of magnums of the widow's finest in the best silver ice buckets we had, and I sent the limo and outriders down to the main road to bring you in the last few miles.

I thought some folk dancers outside would brighten things up but the Morris Dancers were still in hibernation. The booking agent said he had some other folk dancers on his books and sent over a troup of what I thought he said were Polish Dancers. They didn't seem to wear very much and I had to bring the poor girls in out of the cold and turn the heating up. Then he sent over a troup of dancers from Lappland.

So everything was ready, crowds outside, singing, dancing, booze, just one thing missing. You.
