Before reading, please bear in mind that I'm not trying to get clues or answers on opening the Isis up BUT...

...How would you KNOW if your Isis was broken when you bought it? Do they test them all before sale? What if they forgot to put in one of the ball bearings?!?

I ask this as due to the nature of secrecy on this forum (and every other forum!) people who are asking how to release the 3rd ball bearing are never told anything as to how to do this. What if they do manage to find the right way but there's a missing ball so they never know if they've done it right?

Unfortunately, there's not really a way to tell. There have been one or two occasions were this has happened. I spent ages thinking my Isis was broken until I managed to open it :lol:

If you really, really think your Isis is broken, try to find somebody near you who already opened theirs, and they will be able to check for you.

P.M.A. Positive Mental Attitude. You must always consider that your Isis is perfect, completely intact and that you WILL open it. One little tip though, put ONE drop of light machine oil e.g. 3 in 1 on to each ring and the button and rub it in. Four drops is plenty. Never be tempted to use penetrating fluids such as WD40.

the best part of the forum boards is misinformation..makes me giggle...not sure what is the wrong answer really just know i saw a thread saying if you lubricated your isis incorrectly you wouldn't be able to properly grip the puzzle ....i never had to use any kind of lube on any of my isis's.
P.M.A. is good advise tho.
please tell me if your experiences dictate that lubrication helps your puzzle function

Was thelightjockey reffering to you as "Gaffa" or as in the tape?

Gaffer tape is essentially the same as duct tape.... :wink:

Also, there is a ducK tape.... it's just that its a trade name by people who happen to make ducT tape

I was shocked at the Duck tape thing aswell... twas always duct or gaffa (gaffer) and then a few weeks back a club owner sent me a box of Duck brand tape.
Cannae beat the half price giant roll from the auto-shop though, more tack for less bucks.

When I heard people say duck tape, I always thought they were pronouncing duct wrong. I was surprised too when I saw a brand of duct tape called Duck tape - good marketing idea though :lol:
