Second Dutch Free Isis found

Postby LouIsis » Sun Jan 27, 2008 8:08 pm

On the Dutch Isis forum, an Isis hunter named LouIsis announced that he  found  the second Dutch Free Isis (placed November 2007)

He is now writing a little story to post on the Dutch and UK forums. . .
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

The photo story

Postby LouIsis » Mon Jan 28, 2008 12:43 am

This is the photo-story of how I found the 2nd Dutch free Isis.

the riddle maker wrote:Naakt, ondanks maatpakken in buurt.
Achter een bank waar men niet op kan zitten.
Een martelaar met tijdsaanduiding.
Voor straf ligt de ISIS daar
Benader absoluut vanaf de nummers 201-249

my translation (as good as it gets with some double meanings) wrote: Naked, despite suits in vicinity
Behind a bench(=bank) one can not sit on.
A martyr with time-indication.
For penalty the ISIS lies there.
Approach absolutely from the numbers 201-249

Naked, despite suits in vicinity
Big Funnel Man is 10 m long and rests alongside the A27 highway near Breda at exit 15,
where there are always traffic jams at rush hour. People sitting in their cars,
going to and from work every weekday, might feel just like the force-fed man.

WARNING: the following link is innocent, but the rest of ateliervanlieshout.com may be offending 'art'.
(above italic text is quoted from http://www.ateliervanlieshout.com/works/bigfunnelman.htm)
Note "Van Gils" suits on the background: totally un-google-able clue :!:
When I saw that, I knew the location was correct.
(Yes, the other 'dude' is me, 23 hours befor I found the Isis)

Image
Behind a bench(=bank) one can not sit on.
Speaks for itself, address is Kemelstede 2, Breda.
A bank in the same street as numbers 201-249,
plus the google earth image shown at the bottom of this post,
that was all I had to go on before I left home on 13 January for a 60 km drive.
It was a longshot, but worth a try.

Image Image
A martyr with time-indication.
Another beautiful un-google-able clue :!:
A giant time/temperature display is mounted on the side of this flat.
I saw it on 13 January when I left the highway at exit 15.
A phonecall to fellow isis-hunter and geocacher BadNews confirmed it: YES Laurentius was a martyr :D .
So I never had to check my watch during the searches.
I did have to wear my coat though, Laurentius indicated 6 to 9 degrees during the three searches.
The image on the right was a 'secret clue' on the weblog of Amerone, the BeNeLux distributer of the Isis.
I did not discover that clue until 24 January, after a tip from Meandsoon, the finder of the first Dutch free isis.

For penalty the ISIS lies there.
This was the trickiest part of the riddle. Right from my first visit to the location, I had two possible links to "penalty":
- "in the corner" (of one of the terrace of the red dude)
- "behind bars" (there are several fences near the red dude).
On the 1st visit (13 Jan) I immediately checked the corners of the six terraces,
but I looked mainly in the stone 'walls', not in the ground :? .
On the 2nd visit, (26 Jan) I used an old ski-pole to prick in the soil, but I only found more stones there..
On the 3rd visit (27 Jan) I used gardening gloves to 'investigate further' and to look UNDER the stones in the soil  .

Image
Approach absolutely from the numbers 201-249
This was a clue for safety: do not park on the emergency lane of the highway nearby (who would  ).
This was actually the clue that led me to the location.
I googled "nummers 201-249" and the 1st hit mentioned the street "Kemelstede".
(The 2nd hit mentioned the Dutch IsisAdventure forum!)

Image
This is the A27 at exit 15.
The white line is where I searched for 2 hours on 26 January, strolling 5 kilometers in total.
It's a nice little park-like area, mainly used to walk the dog.
The Isis was at the yellow cross..

That's the story of my free Isis, I'll now start working on my golden pyramid story
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Well done my friend, may I join you're club of free Isisfinders. I am all alone in my club :(

The Laurentius was a good one right? I went to the library to figure that one out. But hell no I would have found that statue. I only new it was breda because of the church and so many Laurentius refencepoints.

Well done on finding that on Louis!

Ohj, ps, I cracked the Isis at 0400 AM this morning, and the only way of typing this message, is by not using 3 fingers and a thumb...auw....

Ps, did you get the pyramidclue / pyramide also, damn, should have cracked the Isis on saturday then :P

Be seeing you,

Meandsoon
Keep on searching, this search goes on, on and on "Frantic"
