Same here. I got to about a 9 x 8 square before running out of fittable pieces - then the cat decided to clean himself on it and felt that the pieces were in his way

I then went for a mathematical approach - only 400 combinations for the first two pieces I worked on. Got fed up with it and put it back in the box!!

I'm pondering some form of algorithm to attempt to solve it on a computer. Brute force is no good as there are something like 1.3 x 10^451 combinations and it wouldn't finish by the end of the universe, let alone the closing date

LOL,

My dog slobbered on mine (she 's a boxer) - pets don't you just love them!!

I stumbled on a forum the other day where they had set up a syndicate in order to win the $2m. I have this image of them all sitting darken rooms running computer simulations

sorry if anyone is in it

Yeah, I read about this - I think it was one of these distributed processing things like SETI@Home. Now if I was the author of that software, the program would run something like this:

Attempt to solve EternityII
If PuzzleSolved=True Then Display('Solution Not Found')
Email Solution to ChadH
End Program
