October 3 of more

Solved!

Postby mindgameuk » Wed Dec 12, 2007 10:10 pm

Hi guys,

I managed to solve the October 3 of 4 search.
After assuming that Birmingham is the only city in the country with an Irish Quarter (to the best of my knowledge) I headed to Birmingham on a cold December morning in the rain to begin the hunt....
The part of the riddle that says "and you wouldn't believe it, but the sun still shines here." initially had me thinking that it had to be an indoor garden of some sort... perfect for hiding the ISIS?.... maybe?
I had a few ideas of where to start and after giving up on the indoor garden idea I found myself wandering the various parks of the Irish Quarter hoping to spot a glimpse of the building matching the photo clue.
Before long I had abandoned the parks and was following green lamp posts marking the Irish Quarter and surveying building after building against the picture...... then 2 hours after starting and on the verge of calling it a day I spotted a pub and immediately recognised the design from the photo. The pub was called the Adam and Eve, have a look at the link... http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/58/5859/Adam_and_Eve/Digbeth
Upon ordering a pint of ale I soon located a sun lamp above the bar...
"....the sun still shines here...". Hidden behind it was an ISIS coin with serial number.
I then contacted SonicWarp and claimed my ISIS puzzle ball. It arrived today and I must say it was worth the effort! Let the frustration begin!
Thanks for reading and keep hunting!! :D

Congratulations,

Folks, I have a little story on this one for you...

When I decided to hide a coin in the A&E pub, I wasnt quite sure how to go about it, so when I arrived at the pub i looked around outside for a suitable hiding place but soon gave up on that idea, and was wondering if I could hide it inside. I thought the pub was closed as the doors seemed shut, but then someone came out for a smoke, ha ha, in we go...

I walked in to find myself totally on my own except for the bar person, I ordered a drink, and sat down. I looked around, walked around a bit and considered hiding the coin behind one of the pictures, nah would probably slip after a while, so I went back to the bar, and had a look at what was behind the bar. I spotted a saxophone, interesting I thought, I wonder if I can toss the coin across the bar and into the bell of the sax. I didnt really want to discuss this with the bar person in case they threw me out, so I went for it, as the bar person turned away, i quickly flicked the coin across the bar and it landed inside the bell of the sax - phew ! what a shot I though - ah but a problem I could still see the coin in the mouth of the bell, darn it wasnt deep enough, flip. Ok a dillema, what to do, I couldnt reach the sax from the bar, so I decided to call the bar person over and order another drink, whilst doing this I said, wow thats a really interesting sax you have there, can I have a look at it, she looked at me a little strange, but decided she would hand it to me, but then guess what, yep she spotted the coin in the Sax, took it out and put the coin behing the bar next to the cash point - aggghhhhh. This was turning into one of those akward, can I start all over again situations one gets into now and again.

So now I had to come clean, I explained everything about the adventure, and asked if I could put the coin behind anothe object I had spotted which was the Sun ornament, hmmmm she said, she had to get permission from the owner, at this point I thought all over, no way, but after a phone call she came back and said YES, so all turned out ok in the end. !! ok the rest is history.

I have many more stories like this, but I dont get that much time to write them down, but if enough of you want to hear more, I will tell you about the Cross Kirk - Isis that I hid - that was another crazy one !!! :D

Jeez... sounds like some are pretty hard to find. I have to say, PUZZ has put me off slightly... though hiding them sounds like a laugh :P

I can't even find my car keys in the morning, and I -know- they're in the house somewhere!
