There's a reason it's called the 5% club

The keys are glued in tight, so I doubt it's that that's rattling

Plunger question

Postby g0isw » Wed Aug 15, 2007 2:41 pm

I'm now fairly sure I can hear the 3rd BB. :)

However no amount of clue 5 is doing anything.

When my Isis was new the Plunger apart from being able to be pressed in, also rotated. It now will not rotate, but will still depress.

Is it possible that I have turned the plunger and this might prevent the 3rdBB from moving properly?

Thanks again

Thanks Espansiva,

I have just used a small amount of WD-40 and the plunger will now rotate again. :)

You did very well opening your Isis in 3 days! 8) Still struggling here after over 2 months.

All the best

Thanks g0isw 8)
I think part of my quick sucess is due to an early idea of what the Isis really is, and I must say I can feel your frustration after 2 months!
My best advise to you would be to put the Isis away and instead read the clues over and over while forgetting all that you think the Isis is. The best (and only) way to open it is to guess what kind of puzzle the Isis is, so try to guess that from the clues. It is actually all there, just carefully formulated as to not lead your mind to it too fast...

And I must say after seing what is inside, that it truly is a devilish and in many ways misleading object, the Isis...

Let us know when you progress further...

Best of luck! :)

Define "In order..."

Postby Zac.Heacker » Thu Nov 22, 2007 9:02 am

I've seen this advice all over the place. Follow the clues. It's all in the clues. Follow the clues... in order.

The importance that has been placed on the words "in order" makes me think that maybe it's not the order you would expect. After all, the 11th clue isn't exactly "in order," right? Am I on the right page here at all?

By the way, I just got my Isis, and am pretty new to the forums. I love this stupid, annoying, god-forsaken little ball of mine. :D

The 11th clue is the only one out of order because it is an extra clue. The ones that come with the Isis are all in order.

OK,
Thanks Kavin. Just trying to pursue all possible lines of thought here...

Oh well. Back to scouring the clues...

I keep seeing posts about the plunger "rotating"
Mine can be pressed but I can't see how it can be rotated? What am I not seeing?

Cheers

As long as you can press it down you have nothing to worry about :)

Hi BlueWhite :)

The plunger can rotate as well as depress, although I think some ISIS plungers rotate easier than others. If you keep your thumb on the plunger, and slowly turn the ISIS in one direction, you may be able to turn the plunger in the oposite direction. My ISIS plunger turns better if it is not depressed, although I do need to have a good grip on it.

But as SavinIris mentioned, rotating the plunger is not important in solving the ISIS.

Karen :)

I've been trying the eleventh clue a whole bunch. With lots of symbol arragements. I don't know if i'm not trying the 11th clue with the correct arrangement or with enough force. I'm pretty sure the arrangement's meaningless (at least at this point,) but I don't want to use too much force because i coun't think of the right arrangement. So does the arrangement matter, or am i just not using enough force?
