Clue help and progress on solving the Isis

Postby cslrobert » Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:28 pm

Agreed, not sure how long you have been on your puzzle but look into the forums and see how many people talked about being on month 7,8,9,10 etc... on trying to crack this thing..... Hell I still havn't opened my NK1. And if it wasn't for the 11th clue it would be called the .005% club.

There is a pride that comes as a prize when you open it. The ISIS is sort of a magic trick once you know it, you don't what anyone else to because its your secret and you want to astonish or keep others intrigued.

Another thing is for every person that opens their ISIS thats one more person in the adventure, sure people will tell you congrats, but deep down you are now another person in the game that might take a pyramid away from them. So sometimes you will find closed lips even in the 5% club.

Re: Clues and info

Secondly, if the board allowed questions such as "what do I do next?" to be answered, then the forum would just become a glorified instruction book on how to open it...then it wouldn't be a puzzle would it, it'd be a damn expensive ornament that you could dismantle every once in a while!?

Also, I disagree that more thought could have been put into the clues.... what more do you want them to say?
If the clues meant more (and by this I guess you mean give more detailed instruction), then again, it'd surely be an instruction book?
The fun of the adventure for me was opening the Isis, and in my opinion I think the Isis should be made harder to open, not the clues made harder to decypher

Lastly, if it was made such that it was easy (or easier) to solve then there wouldn't a 5% club, it'd be a 95% club  ...and there'd probably be less prizes too, or just of lesser value.

In all honesty I think if you looked around the forum you would find more than enough info to have you Isis open pretty quickly... the search is up there^^^ :P

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the thoughts on this - I always find healthy debate useful and thought provoking, especially when things like this are at stake :)

My comments on the clues is targeted at
1) the puzzles in the book should be harder
2) they should point us to areas (be it published books, etc) that help us learn more about the nature of the puzzle. I'll stop there so as not to disclose anything relative to the "goal" of the puzzle. Essentially I'm getting little out of the dang clues and yah i'm at the 1cm stage/phase, but heck i may have some more "figuring" to do if it's supposed to open easily and i'm not needing to strongarm it.

The board, IMHO shouldn't be a walk-through on the puzzle, but it surely shouldn't discourage folks from intellectual exchanges of information. Given the historical challenges with eBay, other boards, online sales, etc., I'd challenge SW to prove it's really "5%" that can open these things. And btw, "real" treasure hunts leverage clues available in the outside world - that includes research done by others. If this game is to continue to scale to meet the needs of its userbase, it must scale and possibly provide an increasingly difficult (or changing) solution.

In the end, it is what it is, right? It's a game, there IS an answer, and I WILL figure it out... I just think the cloak and dagger stuff is getting a little overboard.. if you want to encourage the players to think, allow them to have a private entry with a limited # of questions to the 5% club... no direct "do x, y, z" answers, just "you're on the right track" or "lolzun00b"

Everything you need is in past forums. They are not plainly stated, you have to figure out the hints. I know its frustrating but even telling you your on the right track is giving you an answer.

If your getting tired of people telling you to look at the clues, sorry. EVERYTHING you need to open the ISIS is in the clues. The adventure is to teach yourselh how to read hieroglyphs, learn how to decipher, look up places that you never would have though twice about, and to actually go somewhere to find the next clue. This is ultimatly a game for you and you only. You must figure it out. I didn't have any help and if I did then I would feel that I took a short cut.

If you think the ISIS is tough just wait till you get to the riddles.

And Sonicwarp did post sold vs. opened ISIS and I think its only (3% opened)

ok, so this was as lame as I thought - i FINALLY opened it, but it was only due to clue 11. This, ironically enough, I've been trying for the past 4 days on my new carpet, which obviously was of no help. Brought it to work, and now it works - go figure :P

I got to the 1cm apart stage, but then I realigned the placentas again. Is that good? or was I supposed to keep it in the 1 cm stage to progress? also I cant get to that stupid 180 deegres apart stage! Do I have to turn clockwise or anti clockwise to get there? Any tips/advice will be appriciated.

The best advice is: read the clues again and have a good look through the forums. You should be able to pick up all sorts of snippets there..
Don't give in and don't be tempted to ask someone for instructions, it will ruin the magic for you..

I think you'll find this is quite clearly stated in the clues :)
