Hi All,

Anyone know of any good puzzles? ..apart from the ISIS and NKryptor that is

I have the Sacred Myths and Legends puzzles- good quality wooden puzzles, there will be 7 in the series, but only 3 have been released so far. Not as good as the ISIS, but fun.

The Dan Lock. A cleaver design, and a good quality puzzle. Easy to open once you know how, but it took me over 30 minutes to figure it out Puzz recommended this one in a thread a while back.. thanks Puzz

The Egglam cube a Bedlam cube with a twist ... I still can't get it back in the box!! lol

I also have a few Hanayama Puzzles The "News" puzzle was one of my favourites, it took me a few days to get in that one

The Money Maze is also fun. You can put a small gift or money inside of it, and its great fun watching the recipient trying to open it . The Money Maze is sent closed, so you have to solve it in order to put the gift inside Also along those lines is a wooden puzzle called Don't count on it. Unfortunately it is sent already open, but I'll enjoy watching my family trying to open it

This sounds like a great present!

Any idea where to get it, be it online that delivers to Ireland, or perhaps an Irish store? I'm looking for one at the moment

The Money Maze is great fun, it has travelled throughout my whole family now with various gifts inside

I bought mine from Firebox, but they are currently out of stock and I'm not sure if they deliver to Ireland. You can also get one from here, and they do deliver to Ireland, but the postage is

If your interested in well crafted puzzles (like the SW Puzzles) then it might be worth considering getting hold of a Japanese Puzzle Box (Himitsu Baku).

They are a traditional Japanese box, with a special mechanism for opening - they can take between seven and 150 'moves' to open.

I have one - It's extremely well made, and though the one i have isn't that hard to open (10-moves), some are nye-on impossible!

Worth a thought, and, like the ISIS, they also look good on the mantlepiece.

You can sometimes pick them up on e-bay, though the best ones come direct from the manufactures.

Oddly enough, Puzz had sent me that same link too! I ordered one from them last week and it came this afternoon I totally agree with you, they are very well made and look great.

Mine takes 54 steps to open it, I've managed to complete 45 moves so far and the lid has moved just over 1cm, but now I'm stuck They are sent with instructions but I'm determined to open it without them!

The 150 move one sounds really good! I think I may look for one of those next if I ever get into this one that is!

The site that you posted is also good value. I shopped around a bit before I bought mine, and that site has one of the best selections and really good prices. They also let you pay with Paypal, and their correspondence is great too.

Edit... I'm in It took about 2 hours in total. Roger, my other half, pinched it off me half way through and managed to get past the next stage. I think I'm going to ban him from my puzzles in the future!! But I managed to get it back off him before he opened it, and I did the last few steps on my own They can be reset by just reversing the 54 steps.

Now looking for the 150 step one, the web site above doesn't seem to stock them, but I've emailed them in case they may be able to get one

The 150-odd step versions are very rare! I've only ever seen one, and it wasn't for sale at the time. What's more the place i saw it (which is where I bought my box from) no longer seems to exist.

72-steps appears to be the most complex I can find at the moment.

A 72 step puzzle is the hardest one I have found so far aswell I spoke to the company where I bought my 54 step box from. They said that they used to sell a 125 step puzzle box, but the craftsman who made them is now deceased. They have one on show, but that is not for sale.

I'll keep an eye on ebay, maybe one will turn up eventually

I remember many years ago I saw a see-through 3D maze, about 15x15x15 cm with (I guess) 5 "lanes" along each side. The challenge was to direct a ball from an entrance to an exit through the maze. Anyone stumbled across something like this? I remember making a copy in LEGO (non-transparent, a bit harder!)

That does sound familiar. I've googled it, but unfortunatley can't find anything similar. The Money maze which I posted above is along a similar theme, but the ball only travels along the sides of the cube, not through it like the maze you recall.

I've just found a 324 step puzzle box It isn't a traditional Japanease puzzle box, but it does look good. It's a remake of the super - CUBI and can be found here. Think I'll keep an eye our for a harder traditional Japanese puzzle box though.

I wish I could make puzzles like that .....and then sell them for that kind of money

I found another good puzzle site here. Each person shown has made a number of puzzles, unfortunately not all of them are for sale, but it's great to look through

I remember the first one, Eternity I, very well! I spent hours on it, it drove me crazy in the end and I never did complete it!!

Best of luck if you decide to get the second one I haven't heard if anyone has completed it as yet, I think it was only released a few months ago.

The Clutch box looks great Lee Krasnow doesn't have any items for sale though, I wonder how much something like that would cost? I bet it's quite expensive!
