Pyramids and passwords

News about forthcoming pyramids and coins

On the box it clearly shows "solve the puzzle, unlock the reward"!

Not the case :!:

Also, not needing a password once the gold has been claimed seems absurd, as there is no notice if the gold has been claimed and the store owners are not going to tell you if it has been. I can't be bothered to go in and check if the gold has been claimed and then collect my silver coin. Nice idea but its not working in reality.

"The adventure" should have had a lot more thought put into it before it went live. Spending more money to partake in the adventure (e.g text your guess) just seems like another way to make money out of us.

If the password system must stay in place then i suggest you set up a web page that you can type your guesses into that for whichever location you trying to solve, make it so only registered users can do it, that way you can track anyone abusing the system (IP/DNS logging as well). Being plain text it should cost very little to run (esp with bandwidth usage).

This would then stop the need to give passwords (or partials) to store owners and remove further leaks. Also I'm certain some stores must be getting tired of answering the phone to people wanting to guess passwords. In the London store they have to go and get someone (if they are available) to check a bit of paper to tell you if your right or wrong. Too much waiting around and hassle for me esp considering how busy the place is! Even then they have had the indiscretion of saying how many letters you have right, given enough time and guesses I'm sure you could work the password out via a process of elimination which is another possible way of circumventing the system.

Maybe try a hard clue for a gold coin and an easier one for a silver!

Thus far I have lost interest. Until a better system (one that not forever changing) is in place for partaking in the "Adventure" I am going to just wait for the next puzzle.

Sorry for the negative comments PUZZ but they need to be said.

The puzzles rock, thus far, the Adventure does not!

Been saying this for ages. Too logical I'm afraid. Some people actually think it's fun burning gas at nearly

I think I will, I love the puzzle itself :D , the craftsmanship is superb, they look great as side ornaments and I have the satisfaction of knowing I solving it. The transposition clues were an excellent idea as well, hope they do the same again :!:

Not the hardest puzzles I've ever done but still I love it. Wish I could have started earlier and got my hands on an Isis 1a though :(

The fact that people have to go into the shops to guess the password, is the reason why the pyramid keepers agree to keep a pyramid. As it will hopefully increase their sales. It's also the reason, as Puzz explained, why we are not told whether a specific pyramid contains gold or not. Although, by keeping a close eye on the forum, it is possible to work out what most of the pyramids contain.

The ISIS adventure motto is also something like "Taking you places you've never been" so that wouldn't really be true if all you had to do was sit at your PC :)

It's not the duty of Isis purchasers to further support retailers. SW has made it clear to me that it is not a charity - neither are we. Regarding the strapline "Taking you places you've never even thought of going to..." this is just marketing, and in any case you still have to visit the site to claim the prize which, considering the general dearth of pyramid locations, should be sufficient.

Puzz wrote earlier in this thread that 3 password attempts were allowed each week. However the new "pay to guess" pages indicate that you can only have 2 attempts per week:

"You are only permitted 2 password attempts per week. This can be done by visiting the pyramid location, or via our new online password checker."

Why another change? Could somebody clarify please!!

The link is just below the link for the pyramid clues, and the link to buy the credits is just below that again. The cost is

pyramid passwords

Postby PUZZ » Sun Oct 28, 2007 10:22 pm

Folks,

I know this password thing is a pain, but its the best system I can think of at the moment. Ive read your comments and I think its important to remember that a large amount of money is at stake for each pyramid, and ive already had leaked passwords and brute forcing issues in the past. The password guess credit system makes thinks easier to crack a password now, which Im not mega happy with, but you asked for some help with the passwords and travelling so Ive provided it.

2 x password guesses a week per pyramid - via credit system, and still 3 x password guesses a week if you go to the location.

I will consder the comment on discounts for bundle credits this week.

Thanks for clarifying that...it's not entierly obvious for the pyramid clue page that this is the case :?

I guess when people complain about the passwords etc, they tend to forget that

So why not scrap the whole idea of a pyramid held in an actual location? It is clearly troublesome to administer and has proved its weakness in the area of fraud. Unless these locations provide a valuable revenue stream I cannot see a problem with having virtual locations of pyramids.
Making the adventure an internet only game allows you (SW) more scope for control and having an automated password system guarantees that everyone gets an even chance of success no matter where they are in the country (passwords input into the system by SW would of course have to be independently verified to alleviate any potential worries about transparency). Anyone else got thoughts on this?

Virtual or Real

Postby PUZZ » Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:31 am

Folks,

although the pyramids are a maintenance overhead for SW, its one of the things that makes us stand out from the ever so common VIRTUAL world.

Feedback from many people has shown that the tangible aspects of the isis adventure are really enjoyed, and actual pyramids and keys are really exciting elements of the REAL adventure game.

The Award zone in the US is virtual, and although its proving successful, many are now asking for the REAL pyramids to be placed in the USA, which we are endeavouring to do very soon.

I have to say, I agree with PUZZ.

I think the fact that you actually have to go somewhere to claim a prize improves the Adventure no end. I can't believe how excited I was when I went down to London, key and password in hand, to have a Stab at the Pyramid there. As it turns out I only came away with Silver (but i've since got another ISIS and will have another stab).

The physical aspects of the game make it so much better than a web based challenge.

All IMHO, of course.

Regards,

Richard...

Just a random question (sorry if this has been answered on one of the previous pages... I think I've read them all but I may have missed it)...

If the entire clue for the pyramid pertains to its location (obviously, I mean if you actually find the pyramid and the whole clue fits with no leftover bits) does this mean that there is no password?

I'd just prefer it if I knew for sure that there was a password to find (or not!) in the clue so that I don't spend years looking for one that isn't there.

What will the online password-checker say if there *isn't* a password? Will it say so or will it just keep telling you that your guess is wrong?
