PYRAMIDS

Postby runningw » Fri Sep 21, 2007 7:14 pm

Being open to change is good and this method is certainly worth trying. I'm in full agreement with Puzz on this.

What Im confused about is why the value of the coin has to drop.

From a business perspective SW must have set a provision aside to pay out

Good point haggis. The principal is sound for giving an extra clue after a set length of time but on this one I'm prepared to swallow a cut (begrudgingly) for the sake of an extra clue! Remember how difficult WP was?

Hardest puzzle in the world.....?

Postby cjr22 » Fri Sep 21, 2007 11:02 pm

Well, I have to say I disagree with the idea of extra clues. The puzzles are hard, sure, but that's good, isn't it? The biggest attraction of the Isis itself, for me, was that it was really hard to solve, but not impossible. I think you'll be diluting the message if you make the riddles too easy.

Solving a hard puzzle after you, and lots of other people, have been working on it for a while is a great feeling, and there are very few places where you can do this, and get a big cash reward for being the brainest person around. I spent a couple of years playing Perplex City, on and off, for just that reason. Difficult, fair puzzles are hard to find, and even harder to create, and making them easier spoils all that hard work.

Well, that's what I think, anyway.

I agree, hence my last question about if this trial is a success will all pyramids be like this. If some are kept in the current style (with the single clue) then this can perhaps keep both sets of people happy?!?!

btw. Hello and welcome to the forum cjr22! :D :P

Postby PUZZ » Sat Sep 22, 2007 3:57 pm

Hi Folks,

Congratulations to another Gold coin winner today

It looks like your starting to get the hang of these passwords !

Looks like I might have to make the clues even harder then :D

This trial might be interesting. However I ask the same question as bluesign2k, will this potentially herald a new form for all pyramids?

Thoughts:

Such a setup would mean a progressive increase in accessability, as the clue developed and the prize money decreased, for those less able to solve the original clue. However this would only work if those better at cryptic clues were delayed in reaching the pyramid somehow.

Once the gold has gone will the clue remain in the form in which it was solved, continue to cycle or go to its easiest form? Or will the gold be replaced and the cycle restarted with a new clue?

That sounds very complex - almost a puzzle in itself.

I reckon a new system will be seen to be less necessary given that two more pyramids have fallen this weekend. If it aint broke...
See you at the next Pyramid...possibly.

Once the gold has gone, you no longer need a password to access it.
