finding a coin

Postby colin@tina » Mon Jul 28, 2008 10:03 pm

hello all
colin @ tina here

just to tell you all that we found this isis and below is our story

as most off us we did not have a clue where this was and i had google every part of the clue and got no where and really had given up on this one

then one tina was watching more 4 and time team was doing a thing on iron age hillforts and while watching they were filming from danebury hillfort which is near andover hampshire i google it and looked a really good place so i looked it up on channel 4, http://www.channel4.com/history/microsi ... visit.html
look a good day and only being about half hour away the next weekend we went there to look round it , what a place veiws for miles see why they build it here , as we walked round the ramarts we started to see tree stumps cut in funng angles see link http://www.bikesandboots.co.uk/walking/pimg.htm
having rembered the clue about a 50p stump we started looking for one that looked like a 50p hopeing that my chance we had found the right place and then we did see our photo http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o173 ... A53223.jpg but didnot find anything so after a very heavy downpour http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o173 ... A53226.jpg we went home very wet

not giving up on this i had to work out the clue now , then bing posted that "iron-aged was to used as one word " i kept looking at the clue then i got it
it was a code
taking the first letter of the first word then the first letter of 3rd word and so on as showed below

D A N E
Discover how an Iron-aged nerd lost everything.
H I L
B U R
Look before feeling under our roots,
L F O
Y
Remember your trainers.
R T
Look for the 50p tree stump.

this spelling danebury hillfort
so yes it was the right place what a bit of luck and thanks time team

so back to the clues and agine bing gave us a clue 2. Two lines are 100% TRUE,
Two lines are NOT.
so we knew the 50p stump was ture but what other one could be
iorn_aged didnot google so was it wrong
that leave two
now after seeing the stumb nerby was some beech hills and they had lots of roots so could it be that one
so last week we were on out holiday and not going anywhere we said we go to the hillfort for another look
so off we go to the stump
and then start looking all round the roots of the beech tree near by and there it was tucked very tightly along side a roots cover by some leaves and pushed nearly out of sight in dirt oh yes we jumped found another what a feeling http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o173 ... A53229.jpg you can just see the beech tree and the root in the top of the photo hope these links work
thank you sw great place to go and explore

just to say to everyone i have ask sw if i can raffle this one for my sons trip to tanzinia next summer so anyone wanting to buy ticket watch this space and thank you

)That's a clever clue! Well done!

btw Colin, you could do with editing a space in front of the channel 4 site, so it doesn't include the 4 in the link, (done, Bing!) and I don't seem to get anything at all from the boots and bikes link :?:

Congrats Colin@tina!
Although welcome to my world of recent, near enough everyday here in N. Ireland it rains, and with digging and collecting mud and crossing leech infested swamps, thick forests etc yeah... drowned rat look is very common here! lol
Please can you pm me with the details of the raffle as internet access is limited here and one girl is giving me the evils as she wants to use it at the mo!so could do with knowing a little more in advance so have time to buy a ticket and contribute.
Congrats again
