Just trying to inject a bit of interest back into this one. I found this picture on the web:
Image
Not suggesting for one minute that this is the right place but the large block structure used in the wall of the passageway, the lintel and the smaller stones above the lintel look a very similar construction. The photo was apparently taken near Hay on Wye so maybe as suggested earlier, South Wales is the place to be looking.

Combining earlier hunches it may be a mill and may be in Wales, with some word association on Galaxy, I come up with Ford.

So, a mill near a ford in Wales. Which leads me to Nant Mill, near Wrexham.

As good a guess as any...

I'm trying to keep this one going

Here are few ideas from the clue:-

1. Chocolate- hand made chocolate in St David, this shop is 2 hundred years old and near the Cathedral.

2. Hitchhikers Guide- filmed at Jodrall Bank (observatory) also filmed at a gravel pit in Wales

3. Observatory- Bristol (erin-rae ) as a camera looking at Clifton Bridge?

4. Ford- Plenty of river fords and mills

5. Galaxy- a couple of Photo/images sites on the web with this name

any more ideas ??? or clues.

Congrats on the move, upscaling I hope. Hoping you guys are all settled in and got your photos out on your desks already.

C'mon then, I think we are well overdue for a clue on April 1 of 2, ivy covered wall with what looks like a mill race... pretty please?

Erin x

Interesting, will look closer, this I believe is the camera obscura on top of the hill overlooking the Bridge, what a lovely spot, usually a nice place to go on Christmas day or on a sunny afternoon... ahh.

Um, in terms of the chocolate link... :
Galaxy --> Mars --> Masterfoods factories based in Slough (confectionery and foods), Melton Mowbray (pet foods), Peterborough (also pet foods) and Kings Lynn (meals)... not really looked much further.

Gah, I fear I am losing the will..............

i think you'll find Puzz was just writing the first thing that came into his head, he just happened to be eating a chocolate bar at that time.
its all a big hoax, lol

Is this the UK Gold Coin ?

I suspected as much, the sort of sarcastic answer I would give if I had no intention of giving anything away. I think this has got to be the Gold coin since Andrew hid it himself and hasn't apparently entrusted any knowledge of its location to anyone else or given out any clues. Originally I thought a picture clue was unlikely to be the Gold as someone might by chance recognise it, but nobody appears to have done so. Maybe there is a clue hidden somewhere in the forum or could it relate to a previous hiding place ? Come on people this could be worth £200.

Well, Galaxy chocolate is advertised as 'silk' which could mean the photo could be a silk mill.

Galaxy = Milky Way?

Milky Way = Cheese, Butter, etc?

Cheese, Butter, etc = cool storage?

Cool storage = Ice House?

On second thoughts Milky Way could also equal "cattle creep." See my post on page three of this thread. There are small cattle creeps similar to the clue picture under the narrow-gauge railways in North Wales. Try Google. I know that there are some cattle creeps under canals. It struck me that an old cattle creep under an old canal would possibly need a hell of a lot of drainage holes.

My money's on this place, it's not far from the forbidden corner, damnit us southerners get lumbered with the world's hardest boat to catch, and northerners get to go rambling, Kent has good hiding places (hint, hint )

That's quite close to the Wensleydale Railway, Golderm. And only a few miles from the coin that was hidden at Leeming Bar station in July last year. Would they have hidden another so close, so soon?

I'm not saying they wouldn't though.
