I went prawning the other day down at a beach near Abbotsham in North Devon, and while out on the rock pools I noticed a wall with a very similar alcove in it just up on the cliff facing the sea.
So when I was finished I went and checked it out.
It is really very similar to the one in this picture, but is not THE one. I'm not sure what it was for, it didn't even seem to be attached to a building or anything, just a wall built into a little bluff with an alcove facing the sea.
I think that there is likely to be the same sort of thing on the coast path near to one of the 'believed burial places'.
So this is probably one for the coast path walkers!
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
