There's cold and there's cold; and being on an exposed moor/hill side ain't fun. Took the family to Luss; we ended up skimming stones at the small beach next to the RNLI. Took in a geocache aswell.

Cheers - i looked the place up on google, and it seems that it isn't a stone circle, but a cairn (basically a pile of rocks) - does this sound right? Also, am i looking for a coin or an actual isis?

I think it used to be an actual Isis, but it as a coin now. But it will not be pinned to a post we big flashing lights above it. SW wouldn't have you dismantle the cairn, but it might be a good idea to take a torch, to look between stones.

Actually, I do believe that it is a circle - google earth is giving me different results this time!

looks like a good walk, regardless of land feature. Don't like the look of the weather for the weekend though... best stop by Metcheck before heading out onto moorland. Had thoughts about hiking for this but would feel guilty if no one else had went first.

I'm seriously tempted to go for this one but I think the search area is still a bit vast. Ther are at least 3 very prominent features in the area which would be great places to hide a coin. I can only assume that the picture is very specific and it would/could take a long walk and a very keen eye to spot the exact position in the photo.

Dont think I will be able to have a look until next week. Good luck to anybody searching over the Easter weekend.

hey hey. I'm new to this. But have spent the last 2 days up barton fell looking! It rained, snowed and hail stoned and I still looked! I think I found the stone on the picture but i couldnt find anything. The picture isnt of one of the main landmarks, of which there are about 15! Cairns, stone circles and burial thingys! If anyone needs advice on the area etc then give me a shout. I have tons of maps, bus timetables etc!

Unlucky kksweety, a bit of a lurker eh

Two days searching that area is a serious effort, its a shame you came back empty handed. I agree when you say there a few 'lankmarks' in the area, and to search them all thoroughly would take a long time.

However its interesting to hear you say you think you found the stone in the picture. I wasnt convinced that it would be easy to find if at all.

I may have to rethink my plan of searching the area next week. Its a long way for me!

thinking about it now. it may not of been it. I concentrated on trying to find some sort of hill that looked like that background... i ended up going off path and down a small hill bit! It's definately not the cock pit, or the cop stone, or any of the cairns.

To be honest, even though i came back empty handed I really really enjoyed myself! I had a good 2 days out! I think if no one finds it anytime soon I might take another trip up there and recruit some friends!

Thinking about it, i didnt realise i may be looking for a coin.... the whole place has long grasses and it was snowing/hailing a lot, so i could of easily missed something.

Dont feel bad about possibly missing it. There have been load of hidden isis(s) which people were inches away from and still didnt find it. That includes the early days when it was an actual isis SW hid (blimey have I been at this isis thing that long!!!).

Yep Im tempted. Im in Glasgow at present but might stop off tomorrow on the way home and have a quick hunt around. But, it sound like you covered the likely locations I was thinking of kksweety!
