Pyramids and passwords

Folks,

passwords on pyramids are required for GOLD only, however to check a password you must visit the location, telephoning is not acceptable.

Silver coins can be claimed at the location without a password, again you must visit the location to claim a silver coin. (Subject to condition of pyramid regarding gold - see below)

Obviously if a gold coin still exists in the particular pyramid and you dont have the correct password you will not be allowed access even to claim a silver coin. I think it goes without saying that if you were allowed to open the pyramid without a password and the gold coin was still in it, that you would probably prefer to take the gold coin, although this would be invalid when you made the claim.

Cheers for the clarification, Puzz.

Just out of interest, are the passwords a single word, or can they sometimes be a couple of words or a phrase?

So how do you know if you need a password or not, it wont be clear until you visit the place with a password of some kind, that you might not need if it only contains silver, which you dont know, and you may steer clear of somewhere that you dont know the password for, but might not need either!!?

This would make a good Pyramid Clue!

Glad this has finally been clarified in writing! (not that this was what I was told earlier this week)
It's more than a bit frustrating though because I know im 99% there with the cornwall pyramid, rang twice last week and had 2 guesses which I know were very close, it's a bit far to travel for a good guess though me thinks, gold coin or not!
Guess I won't bother with that one any more then

Anyway, if this is now the case, can we have a pyramid put back in the midlands sometime soon... it seems a bit bare now that the birmingham and cov ones are gone :(

Or could you intruduce something like an online pyramid password check where people can check their password guess before they make a stupid long journey just to be disapointed?
You could easily work in the 3 password guesses per week thing too if it was linked to peoples accounts,....just an idea though

mmm....

So when did SW communicate this to the pyramid locations? Ive been calling a few of places in Yorkshire over the last couple of days and they said they didnt know what I was talking about.

Until the most recent post from Puzz I took it to mean that they didnt have a pyramid. However, due to this new info, they may have had a pyramid but wont clarify over the telephone!

If only Id had the time to search last October when I opened my isis and there were no passwords and the clues were very easy

This could be possible as I was told only on tuesady that there was no problem in phoning keepers to "verify" the password as long as they were okay with it.
ie. some keepers prefer you to goto the pyramid so they don't get bombarded with phonecalls all the time... which is understandable I guess
So there's a chance you did call the right place but they denied all knowledge of the adventure to stop you keep calling them trying to guess the password :? (albeit you only get 3 guesses per week)

I know what you mean!! I opened mine only a few days before the password thing was introduced

We will be looking to put one in Midlands area in September

We are also implementing a service for those that want it, where you can buy 5 guesses per month for Ten pounds (to be found on sonicwarp.com shop September 1st) details to follow on shopping site.

Now i dont really want to answer loads of guesses a week, but if its a service you want, then we will provide it, and the cost will go some way towards my time, but more importantly you wont have to drive thousands of miles with an incorrect password.

If the general consensus is that you dont want the service, let us know and we wont implement it.

I'm out of the game on this one as I already have a silver coin, but thinking ahead to ISIS II, I think it's a great idea for a guessing service :) I'm sure I would use it.

I think ChadH's idea is for a texting based service is really good, I'm sure people would be more inclined to pay per guess than buy a batch of guesses, especially if their first guess was correct, as they would not need the other guesses. Although that may mean more work for poor Puzz as I guess it's not as easy to restrict guesses by text.

This sounds like a useful service! If the gold is still in cornwall on the 1st then I'll definately be buying some guesses! :D

im just a bit confused to be honest. I think we are in need of some clear cut rules, guidelines, which do not change with time. That way there will be no confusion....
