OK a Quid is a slang name for 1 pound, like your Dollar is a "buck"
a shilling is a coin from our old currency which was changed in 1971, it use to be five old pence, but some people who remember the old coinage still call five new pence a "shilling".
The coinage we have now,
1,2,5,10,20,50,1 pound and 2 pounds, these are all coins.
In paper notes we have
1(in Scotland only) 5,10,20,50,100,500,1000 pounds, I don't think that they go any higher, I may be wrong about that.
