Gap, but never opened.

Hi all, I've read a few posts from people discussing 'the gap' when trying to put their Isis back together. I'm in the opposite situation, I have not yet managed to open the puzzle (after several years...sigh...) but I did get it into a position where there is a gap between the two halves. The placentas are still aligned. Is this normal or did I break something? It does not unscrew and I can still hear the ball(s) moving inside. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Cheers!

If you were unable to twist the halves at all, that tells me that you solved the puzzle. It sounds like the locking mechanism re-engaged while you were opening the puzzle. Sometimes it can be pretty sensitive. I don't think that your puzzle is broken, but you will probably need to repeat the solution to open it the rest of the way. The locking mechanism will need to be disengaged again to finish opening the puzzle.

Thanks Brian, so do you think I need to start right from the beginning again? Including the technique required to release the 3rd ball?

Maybe, but you should be able to feel if that is necessary.

Thanks Orko. I think I know what you mean. I can press the plunger in about 2cm, so if I understand correctly, I should be good to just try and repeat the later steps to solve it.

Yep, sounds like you just need to solve the last part again.
