Key chamber only part way out!!!

Postby getsis » Thu Jan 15, 2009 7:51 am

Hi, Maybe you people who have solved the ramisis can tell me if I've screwed the puzzle.
I got the key chamber to pop out about 1/4" it wouldn't come out any more, I pulled on it but it was stuck fast, the bottom ring was in "ratchet" mode and the top two would only turn 180 deg anti-clockwise, I tried for a while to get the key chamber to pop out more but it wasn't having any of it. I then decided to push it back in but it need a bit of force to get back in. now I can get to the ratched mode whenever I like but the key chamber won't pop out. So my question is:- have I got yet another faulty puzzle?

Oh I forgot to ask the ROH as it's called, is this later in the puzzle because I have never encouted it yet only the Tunnel Of Hell :-)

that sounds like the faulty issue...premature chamber ejection...
no ROH=shouldnt have popped...........if you can still move it a little bit..like springy...then its fine..since you had experienced PCE the gizmo that holds the chamber was still in lock mode and you had to umm manipulate the chamber back into its locked position with out the gizmo being in the unlocked position...if its still springy your still ok...gizmo is a high tech term i know but i dont want to give away any juicy morsels... :D

tunnel of hell=start...

It's back to springy but it wasn't premature it's taken be 3 days to get this far, I turned it as stated in the clues and as I turned it the chamber moved out with the rotation no "Ping moment" the top 2 layers then hit the stop so it stopped popping out. rotation on the next to bottom ring gives the ratchet noise anti clockwise only, smooth rotation clockwise.

TOH is when you tilt it "in the horizontal back and forth you can here it roll up/down the tube (quite a way), from there I can get it into the silent place where the ratchet starts and the lock stop happens. Should I be trying to get the key out or open the puzzle from now on? can it be opened with the key still in ?

I might be wrong but to me it sounds like you've reached the key chamber unlocking stage - mainly because you mention you can get it to stop at 180 degrees.
My guess is that for whatever reason the chamber just never manage to popped all the way out, but that you are now past that stage and should be working from the second set of clues... but I guess you can't access these not that your missing much!)

Although I haven't opened ming yet (though it's close), I dont think it matters whether the key is still in or not. I think it'll just make it harder to hear what else is going on inside :)

Mine did this very thing. I found that a pair of pliers gently applied to grip the key chamber will enable you to pull it out completely, then you can follow the directions for disassembly. No problems on my end.

Hi Steve,

 Does that mean if the key chamber wont budge even the slightest bit, no matter how hard I push it, then somethings wrong? My Ramisis Key chamber is stuck solid! I've never even come close to opening it... although if it's broken it'll make me feel better about not having opened it yet lol.

Thanks :)

Mine would compress slightly about 2mm then come back again. Don't you have both editions just compare them and see if they are different :D

Thanks Jazz, but that's my problem, I have compaired them (here) and the Ramisi5 key chamber depresses about 2mm, but I can't get the Ramisis Key chamber to depress at all!

after having my hands on many isis i think that some may be slightly different..every one i have has its own "personality"....maybe the part holding the chamber and the the chamber its self are machined closer than the others....see if you can get any twist out of it..pressure with finger tip and twist any amount of movement will dictate it is free...i wish i could see that karen....surely they wouldnt "wedge" a chamber into a Ramisis... :x
the part holding in the chamber is what gave me slight problems ..but i love to tinker and got it working smoothly...
keep us posted on the situation K! :D

Thanks Steve, Puzz said practically the same thing :D

PUZZ wrote:Hi Karen,

good try ! Nope it doesnt matter if some move a bit and others dont, the locking plate that goes across the key chamber will have a slightly better fit with those that dont move 2mm.

back to trying to get it open

I did this! My key chamber popped half way out, and I accidently pushed it back in!

I asked PUZZ and he confirmed that I was at the key-chamber-opening-stage and it SHOULD have opened... he advised pliers to gently pull it out if I get to this stage again... which is frustrating, because I can't! Argh.
Isis - opened, Gold Coin won :)
Eagle Isis - opened
Isis 1C - opened :D
Ramisi5 - grrrr, jammed :(
Copernisis - opened
Tessarisis - opened
NKryptor opened, Pyrahunters completed to last level

If you've already got to the stage of opening the key chamber then you won't get to this stage again, the next time the chamber pops out will be when your at the end.

Hmmm, not necessarily. This problem only happened to me, and quite consistently I might add, when going back to the start position (the second time the key chamber pops out). The first time it popped out was just fine, slid right out. The second time was "stuck". Third time was fine, fourth time was "stuck" again. This leads me to believe that it's only at the "start" position that this kind of stuck situtation arises. As has been said, just use pliers next time it happens.

I think you misunderstood what I meant (or maybe Im misunderstanding you)...
When I said that she won't get back to this stage I wasn't saying that it won't get stuck again (it might), but I was saying if she's reached (and now passed) that point in the opening of the puzzle then she wont get back to this stage... until the puzzle is solved and reset :)
