Quiet room?

I'm little confused. everyone talks about ''quiet room''. is it a location inside ramisis, or do they mean that i should be in a quiet room to solve the ramisis easier?

Ok so I've had mine for what seems like an eternity but I think it's only been about a year. After solving it but failing to get the key out due to spinning the layers too fast I have yet to make any progress on the way down. I am out of the shaft and into the TROH, I have sat in a quiet room for hours twisting and turning and listening very closely but have still yet to find anything. Can anyone offer a very basic hint or something that may push me in the right direction?

if a method does not seem to help,try something else. Listening very closely is a good idea though, you want to hear a change (or not;-).
