The Isis Adventure

Saw the puzzles for the first time in a Marbles store. Fascinating, but also rather confusing. So it's a $250 puzzle, and when I open it I get a code that I put into here... And.... then what?

The code let's me register that I got hte puzzle open, but I still need to pay an additional subscription fee here to get clues to..... what?

There are pyramids hidden all over the world... Except some/most of them have been found? And in order to find them, I need to...??

And in order to continue onto the journey, I need to buy four other puzzles, to the tune of $1000 total more, and if I spend all that, then I get a shot at some grand prize? That may or may not involve needing to travel the world to win?

I'm totally perplexed. Heck, even just the original Isis seems to come in several different versions, and I'm not sure if there's a compelling reason to buy one version over another.

I'm into the idea, and I'm willing to invest the time and money, but I just want to make sure that it's not a great idea that has completely run out of steam. Knowing what you know, would you start the journey today, in April 2013, from scratch???

I would start today in a heartbeat! While it is true that many ISIS pyramids have been found, there are many which have not been found at all and which still contain gold coins. Other puzzles have "virtual" pyramids or online games to win. In the end, however, if you love puzzles, these puzzles are must-haves. You'll have never seen a better-constructed original puzzle in your life, not to mention very challenging. Only 3 of the 5 puzzles are currently out; the 4th should be coming out "next month" (we hope) and the fifth, who knows? So there's still time to join in the fun! It really is a series unlike any other.

Any chance you can respond to any of my other questions? If I spend 250 on Isis, so I also need a subscription here? And to really participate, do I need all three current puzzles?

Also, I'm assuming that to find the pyramids, I'd need to travel. I travel quite a bit, but all domestic. Ate there still secrets left to discover in the US?

And what about versions of iSIS? Are they all the same?

Most of the various versions of ISIS are just different colors of the same puzzle, or sometimes with different (outer) design (Marbles USA edition, ISIS of Eden). But some versions of it are more complex than others, i.e. harder to solve (Extreme, 1A, etc.).
There are quite a few additional games associated with the ISIS series puzzles, like for example with the ISIS puzzle (1st in the series): the pyramid search, hidden numbers, the puzzlebox, for Copernisis puzzle there's an online game, etc. For most of these additional games you have to be an adventure member (i.e. buy the membership), but for example for the puzzlebox and hidden numbers games I think you don't need the membership (no promises here, I'm unsure). Note that by buying some of the products you can receive free membership (1 year or even lifetime). All of these games/puzzles involves solving riddles, while the pyramid search might involve also finding physical locations (but as Kheldar already said there are virtual pyramids as well, which have no physical location). And yes, I think there are a few pyramids also in the USA.

My personal opinion is: you should buy the puzzle and pay the price if you want to play the puzzle itself. All additional games associated with it are just a bonus, which might bring you some prize or might bring you nothing at all.

I agree with csiga666 on this one; the prizes are bonus, since odds are against us for winning them. I can confirm that there are at least 2 pyramids in the US which have not been found, one in Texas and one in Oklahoma. I believe there may be one out West somewhere too, but as that's not really in my travelling scope, I haven't kept an eye on it. Of course, if you do manage to secure a gold coin from one of these, it more than pays for the puzzle itself! The ISIS is the only puzzle requiring travel to win the gold coin, which is why it's my favorite in the adventure! You do not need all 3 puzzles at once to be successful here. I would recommend just one at a time. The first 3 won't help you to open the 4th, at least not in a technical way (I suppose solving the first 3 could help you understand the mind of PUZZ, thus in theory helping you conceive successive puzzles' designs), so just start with the ISIS and when you've beaten it, get the Ramisis, then Copernisis. It took me about a month to complete each one. Maybe by then the Tessarisis will be out and then you'll be on "even" ground with the others.

So basically, for the ISIS:

1. Buy the ISIS, register it online.
2. Solve the ISIS, register the code online.
3. Select a pyramid on the map online.
4. Solve the riddle online, which will lead you to the pyramid and give you a password.
5. Go to the pyramid and give the keeper the password.
6. Claim your coin, if you so choose, online.
7. Receive your reward.


For the Ramisis:

Same process as above, only the pyramids are "virtual sphinxes" for which there is a riddle associated but no travel required. Type in the correct password online and you win. I cannot confirm what has or hasn't been won for this.


For the Copernisis:

Same process as above, only the pyramids are instead an online game, at which you have one shot. If you win, you win, if not, the end.
