SPIEL in Essen means:
Four days of fun, meeting friends, playing and testing thousands of games and novelties together with gamers from all over the world.
Amerone bvba and Sonicwarp Ltd will be at the fair.
SPIEL '08 with COMIC ACTION will take place from October 23 to 26, 2008 at Messe Essen.

I remember visiting Essen in 1990, eighteen years ago, to attend a games fair; I had to meet a Swedish games manufacturer there to buy some of his products. I cannot remember the name of the fair but it was certainly at this time of year. Will Spiel08 be the same fair; has it been running all these years? It was all the more interesting in 1990 as it was the first year that games fans from East Germany were able to freely attend, and many of them did.

I remember being very impressed with the fun and excitement all round. If this is the same fair, and it has no doubt grown bigger and better over the years then I do recommend a visit if you can possibly make it. A quick flight to Dusseldorf and a short rail trip, no time at all. You won't regret it.
