Login broken for non IE browsers?

Postby evilkeen » Sat Dec 13, 2008 10:54 am

I see they have now improved the double login problem, in that when you go to the forum and are redirected to the main IA site login, it then automatically brings up the forum page in a new window after you have logged in.

However, this seems to work fine on Internet Explorer, but when I use Opera it seems to have broken the log in on the main IA site - it just goes straight back to the log in page, and I can't get any further. Is anyone else having this problem on Opera or any other non-IE browser?

For the record, my Firefox opens a new tab from the main adventure site to the forum, but I think I might just have my browser set that way.

I think I have worked out what's going on here now. Somehow the change in the login page has confused the Opera 'wand', which remembers usernames and passwords for websites, allowing you to enter them just by pressing Ctrl-Enter. That is how I was trying to log in, and it appeared to put the username and password in, which then failed, but when I then tried putting the u/name and p/w in by hand it asked if I wanted it to remember them, suggesting that it thought they were a new u/name and p/w, despite the fact that they were exactly the same as before! It then logged on fine, and when I then deleted the original set it's now behaving as it should. Very strange! :?

I'm here fine on my work's XP PC, but at home, on Vista, when trying to log in at the main site I go into some kind of endless loop...

i use vista and i close the window that opens automatically for the forum and click on extras then where it says forum i right click and select make a new tab....i hate having more than one browser window open when you can have multiple tabs on one window... :D

I prefer multiple windows that way i can Alt+tab between them.

What is annoying with IE is that I always seem to end up with a mixture - multiple windows, each with multiple tabs in them! Opera is much better, as almots always everything opens in a new tab, with just one window.

Yes, fair enough, thanks.

Trouble is, on the computers I use IE on I can't change the settings. I still prefer Opera anyway. :D

I'm using safari on my macbook and before I can get to the forum, I have to log into my isis and ramisis account then work back and into the forum. Easy done but still a pain in the censored!

Any PC can (and pretty much any mobile phone that supports java applications), download it from http://www.opera.com. I used to use it a few years ago because it had tabs, the wand tool for remembering logins and the integrated email was a cool way of avoiding Outlook (which I've never got on with).

I switched back to IE because IE later implemented tabed browsing, the wand thing didn't work on most of the sites I visited that required logins, and live mail managed my mail better (mainly because it can sync hotmail).
The thing that really killed it for me was that there were sooooooo many pages that didn't load properly, which wasn't exactly opera's fault... it was more because the pages weren't coded properly and unlike IE which manages to fix/fudge poorly written pages, opera will just display exactly as is... anyway... it just became unusable for me.
(oh and as i remember it was a bit of a memory whore (nowhere as bad as firefox though), which was just down to poor programming :? )

That said, this was a number of years ago and its probably infinitely better now :)
