this is fun,when your so bored you think you may just succumb to it. :lol:
i heard a preacher talking about living debt free..as originaly intended...anyway he said
mortgage was from the same word as we get mortuary.
mort=death
gage=Grip
do you see where this is going friends?
mortgage=deathgrip in loose translation from greek?
i saw a 2000 year old wall with greek writting on it and you could plainly read "Investigation"..and i also saw "Option"..couldnt read the rest :D

when you split the word up I first thought they were both french words. So translating from french (instead of greek) you get:

mort = death
gage = guarantee

:shock: Seems a little more dramatic than the greek translation.
