Broken Button

So I have a bit of a problem and I hope someone out there knows what they're doing!

I recently moved, bringing my Tessarisis along. It was stored fine, and I wasn't worried about jostling it around. However, when I went to open the box, I found the top button was completely loose. Now I had been playing around with it for a while and it had been fine until the move.

Could anyone who knows what is going on in there advise me what to do?

It seems the problem is bigger than I realized and it'll have to go in for repairs.
Out of curiosity, has this happened to anyone else?

I haven't had my main button break, but I had one of the wheels come out. I had to take the end of a wooden spoon (to avoid scratching) and hammer it into its setting.
And I still haven't been able to open the thing.
