Securing the future

Postby admin » Thu Dec 11, 2008 7:40 pm

Folks,

like many of you I dont like change either, but sometimes its neccessary and the aim is often to try and improve something.
The membership subscription for the Isis adventure is being introduced with the aim of improving and expanding the adventure. Ive already outlined some of the benefits of membership and in addition there will be many more exciting game elements being introduced that have never been seen before. Currently much of my time and my team's time is concentrated on producing the puzzles themselves, and as a result the Isis adventure is not getting the 100% attention it needs, so my aim next year is to allocate full time staff to running the adventure and improve many areas that you have all addressed over the last few years.

Im aware that not everyone is happy with the changes being introduced, and I hope that this changes with time, It will certianly be a shame if those who started this adventure with me in 2006 decide to leave because of the changes being implementing which are ultimately designed to improve your adventure and create more enjoyment for everyone.

Regarding Sonicwarp and where we stand, we will be in our 4th year in 2009 and we now trade very successfully in 15 countries, we have produced two isis puzzles so far and the 3rd is in an advanced prototype stage, we have several more puzzles ready to release next year. So its been another very busy year with a few ups and as always a few downs, but we feel very optimistic about the future and I have some great ideas and will be turning these into reality for you all throughout 2009.

As always I wish you all the very best and thank you for your continued support and I hope that in 2009 we can take the Isis adventure to the next exciting level and take you to even more places you never dreamed of going to...

I just asked the same question, here is the reply:

hi hannah,

its a good question. Fortunately we dont have too many adventurers who own several accounts. Primary account will be £20 per year or £2 month, additonal accounts registered to same individual will be charged at a nominal value for administration and accounting. This will all be clarified in membership rules in January

Hello,

Just a quick question. As I still have 3 different Isis accounts (first one not in my name, 1C one and Eagle one) how will the membership fee work? I can't merge the accounts together as the name on the first one is different, and I'd rather not pay 3 times so that I can access each.

Thanks,
Hannah

Thanks for the communication here, PUZZ, it's much appreciated.
Isis - opened, Gold Coin won :)

My questions are.
1. will we always have to log in twice [it's driving my loopie] ?
2. will my membership get me access to the answers to the "eagle ISIS" riddles after they close?[that is a biggie for me]
3. If this forum stay behind the SW firewall [or what ever you want to call it] how does SW intend to reach the Internet users that started first as forum readers then, adventures?
4. Will happen to our account if we are not here when SW starts the admission fee? [lots of people on holiday]
5. wouldn't it be possible to have it "pay to play' and free to chat. since this forum was great word of mouth advertising?

I know the feeling lol it is very annoying! Not only that, but it seems to log you out after only a short period of inactivity, so you have to login twice again!!!

adamwest wrote:wouldn't it be possible to have it "pay to play' and free to chat. since this forum was great word of mouth advertising?

The forum definitely used to be good for advertising SW products, but with the Ramisis nightmare and the current discussions, unfortunately, as it stands at the minute, I don't think the forum will help to sell SW puzzles :( However, I'm sure that once the new SW puzzles are released in 2009, the forum will be buzzing again with excitement :) Although the Ramisis still has problems, as a whole, SW products are fantastic and I personnaly think the puzzles are amazing :D.

I think your "pay to play, free to chat" idea is great, almost every time I login to the forum, there are nearly always a few guests browsing, I guess they could be people who have accounts and have just not bothered logging in, but I think a lot of the time they are true guests, without forum accounts. By charging to view the forum, these guests will be lost, not only that but it sounds like we'll lose members too  The forum is a great way of speading SW news about new puzzles, recent developments and changes within the adventure, it'll be such a shame for SW to lose such a great resource.

Not only do I love the SW puzzles, I also really like the whole adventure attached to them and I'd be willing to pay a subscription if it helps keep the adventure running :) However, if it's a Pay to play, free to chat, I'm not sure if a monthly subscription would work so well, because at the minute, the adventure doesn't change enough per month to encourage people to subscribe on a monthly basis. So I think SW should maybe scrap the monthly charge, but create a yearly subscription?

Whatever SW decide to do, I know I'll try to support them as much as I can. Puzz is trying his best to keep us happy, but at the same time he needs to keep SW afloat. We're all here because of the ISIS adventure and although we may not be happy with some of the decisions SW make, at the end of the day, if it helps to keep SW alive, we'll all benefit in the long run, because we'll get to see the release of the remaining ISIS puzzles, plus all the other amazing puzzles Puzz has up his sleeve :)

Forum and the isis adventure membership.

Folks, I really appreciate your feedback and passion and I am listening. I will try and get the double logon issues resolved, its annoying me too ! I will also try and setup the system whereby the forum will still require a userid and password, but wont require the membership fee.

The membership fee will therefore only be required to areas that offer cash rewards or access to pyramid map or award zones or anything else that costs money, like the free searches, mystery pictures and any other new games we introduce next year.

Great news! :D
I guess the membership fee will just be more of an incentive to get my ass into gear and solve some more pyramid riddles!! (I haven't looked at any in months now :( )

Hey Steve

Chill, I was actually taking the micky out of myself a bit (ie my inability to spell) sorry you took it the wrong way. It is a fact that I don't agree with a lot of what you say and I'm sure you don't agree with most of what I say. Lets leave it at that, I don't want the forum to turn into our very our slagging match zone. From now on I will not comment about you or any other posters on the forum personally.

However if there is something that I feel strong about, then boy you are going to hear about it, and I do think that everyone’s comments here about the membership fee was right "pay to Play, free to chat" is the right result for everyone here and SW and the new customers.

Steve Happy Christmas enjoy the Holidays, I'm going back to try and open my Ramisis now, which is still closed (must be Brocken )

May i suggest a renaming of the FREE search as they appear to have have had the free part removed.

maybe the 'Free to those who pay to take part searches'
