Hi folks,
I noticed a bit of activity on this topic so had a look at the clue and read through the posts.

My initial thought is towards a Spy Plane of some sort and the N:TAS may indicate that its a Naval Spy Plane???

Havent done any research as Im in the UK... :)

Just my thoughts

With the hints that PUZZ and Ade are giving I have to lean towards periscope. So, what Naval destroyers, submarines that they may have visited on a tour that is docked close to a rainbow?

With the arrows bit I'm guessing that is the buttons to control the periscope (left, right up, down). Watch the rainbow be part of a billboard or business logo that is visible from the periscope.

Start listing ships you can tour:

The picture looks like one of those "Pay/Tourist Binoculars".

"Rainbow looking object"? Does that mean it's a 'rainbow like object', it 'looks at rainbows', or it is quite literally a 'rainbow looking object'?- a kaleidoscope, for example.

Its a shame MN isn't really a major city where such things as isis coins would be harbored.

My thoughts on the Oct. Clue

Postby commoro » Wed Dec 05, 2007 7:57 pm

Since I can't get to New York myself. Here are my thoughts.

N:TAS : N could be short for Noun. The Noun Tas in english is defined as: A crowd; a throng; a multitude or great number of persons.

The use of Eye Spy could indicate that it is New York. Because Eye Spy Magazine (Which is based out of the UK) is located in the Empire State Building.

I think you are supposed to go to the observation deck and look through the telescopes. Look for a arrow shaped objects(Probably an old church). Then when you find the correct location, there will be a rainbow shaped object just above it in the horizon.

And I believe the comment about the Zigzag refers to stairs.

Maybe I am way off. But I think that is very plausible.

Good luck if this helps. Sorry if I am way off and send you on a wild goose chase. :?

Very nice. The colon had to serve a purpose...and your theory works as well as any! The arrow part is what I still have some trouble with. There has to be something significant about it.

Sounds more like it has something to do with a ship, not with Empire State building...

Clarification of the arrows

Postby commoro » Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:30 pm

I think the Arrows are probably represented by the pointed arches of perhaps a cathedral or old architectural design building. I see a lot of that in photos from New York.

By the way the picture to me looks like a very close-up shot of a Cathedral arched doorway.

OR ... Idea #2 in the lobby of the Empire state building there is a big artististic picture of the building, the arrows might be the lines in the image that point to the top of the building(observation deck). I kindof thought the observation deck railing had a rainbow like shape. And the bottom part of the railing is zigzag shaped. Maybe its that simple. Just follow the railing around to the end. Not sure about picture though... :(

I have another theory...since we know TSI is in Seattle, WA it would not surprise me if it was nearby. Name: TAS could stand for something. Previous clues allude to something with the sea and using one eye. Tacoma Astronomical Society (TAS) is in Tacoma, WA. Grab a map and see that Tacoma is in the north-west of Washington, on the water (Commencement Bay).

Astronomer = telescope = one eye. Might be a step in the right direction.
