Pyramid Passwords - UPDATE

Postby doth-head » Wed Jan 10, 2007 9:33 am

Folks,

I can see the change in rules on the pyramid has caused an issue, this rule was brought in to try and open up the opportunity of claiming gold by more people by slowing down the process and thus giving everyone more time to solve the clue containing both the location and password, rather than someone just ringing around every shop in the general area, and then racing to that location before anyone else even knew the pyramid had been released.

However as you all know my door is always open, and I listen very carefully to your comments. I am a little hesitant to change the rules again for fear of complicating the matter further, so we will run the January and February pyramid with the password rule, after that we may revert back to NO password, or announce NO telephoning or another great idea that someone might come up with. Whatever we do it will be announced in good time before the March Pyramid is released.

Pyramid Password - continued...

Postby PUZZ » Wed Apr 04, 2007 1:40 pm

I have decided to continue with the password rule on pyramids indefinately, particularly as many involved in the adventure are getting cleverer by the minute.

Pyramids and passwords

Postby Featherbe » Mon Apr 16, 2007 12:10 pm

Can you tell me where the rules on pyramids and passwords are?

Also, are you able to clarify if a pyramid on the map or its clue "bubble" dictate to the pyramids location?

Pyramids

Postby cornfused » Wed May 23, 2007 5:13 pm

Are the pyramids ever removed even if empty?I live in Texas and have a friend who grew up near London and he's taking my key with him on a trip there in June. But, I would just like a picture from him of the pyramid and the surroundings for my sons as it is their ISIS and so will be the other 4 of them.
It's HELL being me!

Hi there. I need a bit of a clarification on the pyramid rules.

Can a shop who have a pyramid tell you whether or not there is still a goldcoin in their pyramid over the phone?
Is it allowed? Im not asking about passwords or anything, just simply whether or not the long treck, and apparent addmittance fees for the nearest pyramid to me, is worth doing.

I don't think the keepers are allowed to say they have a pyramid - although I'm not 100%

But I don't think a pryamid would be hidden in a place where you have to pay an addmittance fee??

Puzz told me via a PM that if you phone a place with a pyramid, they will only say if they have a pyramid if you give the correct password.

Hope this helps!

well, im not asking whether they are allowed to tell if they got a pyramid or not. I know for a fact that they do, and I told them as much. What i want to know is if its legal for them to tell em whether there is still gold in the pyramid, so that I wont have to travel across the country to have a go at only silver.

as for the admittance fee, well, I know where the pyramid is, I talked to the storekeeper there, but im actually not sure if there is a fee for acces to the shop part of the place or not. I hope not, but considering i use public transportation, were still talking a full day out, and travel fees running upwards to 50 pounds.

Interesting, I, like Karen_G, thought that keepers weren't allowed to confirm whether they have a pyramid over the phone at all... oh well, I learnt something new

Well, one could argue,t hat if they ask for a password, when you ask them if they got a pyramid, and dont just say pyra-what?, then you have hit the right place...

Thus you dont need a password to get confirmation that there is a pyramid.

Yes, that's why I thought the keepers were not allowed to say anything over the phone.... otherwise it does seem pretty odd.

Maybe they should only admit it once you say the password - so they don't ask you for the password, but if you just call and say the password to them, then they will tell you?? Although if someone is not sure of the location, I could imagine they would get some funny responses phoning places and speaking odd words down the phone

can we have a little clarifacation regarding passwords please....

are the passwords single words or can they be a phrase?

if it is a phrase, how is it entered into the password checker with or without spaces?

is the password case sensitive as you enter it in the checker?

That question was very explicitly answered by PUZZ in the USA forum

edit: now I know how to make a more fancy hyperlink.

Hi Smartybones,

Puzz wrote this ...

PUZZ wrote:Passwords are always one string of letters and maybe numbers, no gaps, no underscores, no hyphens, no full stops, no commas.

Here

I can't imagine the passwords being case sensitive, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Best of luck :)

Karen

Edit:  just pipped at the post by LouIsis, our links are different so I'll leave mine in too :)
