I was wondering if anyone here bought their Isis through The Sharper Image and if so, did the box come wrapped in any sort of plastic wrap/celophane? I just got mine last night and there was no wrapping to ensure that I was the first one to get it. When I got it home and went online to register it, I got a message saying that my Isis # had already been registered to a different person and that I was sorry out of luck. Now I'm playing phone tag with SI ( 16 )warriors (sorry couldn't fit it in properly - Ade) customer support and I'm not sure if theyre even going to do anything to help me since they make such a big deal about all Isis sales being final. At this point I jsut want to return the thing and get my money back...

either someone already registered it and returned it or someone typed in the wrong number when registering their own isis.. either way.. thats really unlucky

My theory is that an employee used/registered it. Perhaps they even already solved it...

I bought mine from TSI, too, and no, there was no method of ensuring I was the first user. To add insult to injury, the store sales guys had NO idea what the real scoop was on this thing.
Also, you have a 60-day return policy, so if someone got frustrated and returned a registered Isis, you're SOL.
Good luck!

Well The Sharper Image claims that sales of the Isis are absolutely final so I tend to doubt that it was just a returned item. (Three different people (two floor salespeople and the cashier) all reminded me that sales are final before I bought it.) However, I do suppose that some unknowing employee could have accepted the item for return by not adhering to the rules.

I don't know about that, The Sharper Image is great about their warranties, they ask no question when there is a return. That being said I can easily see how they would take the ISIS back. I woud have SonicWarp find out who the ball did belong to and make sure they are voided off all lists so not to win any prizes.

When I went to SI and told them that I had solved the ISIS they didn't believe me so I had to show them a picture of the one I bought there.
One of the sales reps told me that a guy who had bought one a few days earlier had returned his because he said "it was a stupid piece of crap" ha. So I know for a fact that you can return the puzzle to SI.
And can you imagine...someone solving and ISIS, registering it, trying to solve clues, not winning, resealing the ISIS improperly and returning it? The next person would be SOL and could possibly be unable to solve the puzzle. Now that would be a pisser, he/she would never know.
I just hope that SI foots the bill on all the returned ISISes and/or they return them to the UK to make sure the codes have been reset and that its functioning properly.

Folks,
we recommend SI do not place on sale any Isis units that have been returned for the very reasons you are all aware of.
Generally the people who play the Isis adventure are intelligent, and understand the concept of the isis adventure, so we dont get too many returns from simple minded people saying its a poor product ! As many of you will probably agree its a very high quality product, and for once not made from plastic.
Anyway when we do get a return situation, we request the isis is sent back to SW for checking, we then reset them and send them back to our retailers. Hope this clarifies any misunderstandings. Puzz.

Yes, its obviously not a poor product, it was just someone who was frustrated with it because he couldn't solve it.

I am also in Boston.. did you buy yours at the Pru? If so they are VERY sure not to return an Isis (I had some BIg problems with mine and they had to go to their regional manager to try to come up with a solution). I still have mine, sending it to Puzz soon to have it looked at.
It is very true that none of the customer service people at SI know anything about the Isis... at all. I would defaintly suggest that someone have everyone sit down with the customer service people and fill them in at least a little bit about what can be done. When I called he literally said "there's nothing I can do"...
